This is the first and only thread that I will be posting about Rangers and the ongoing situation. I have to however state my utter disgust at the manner in which some of this has played out.
It has been well documented that Rangers are due United, among others, money for the recent cup-tie. This is a great deal of money and could have a significant impact on us for the rest of the season. In the Summer Rangers were bidding for Goodwillie and the money due to us could be much more than what it currently is. Whyte wanted to pay over a period of 2 years, we would never have got most of this and Whyte knew it. This man has acted with no regard for anyone else and has lied to people from day one. He knew that Rangers would never be able to meet future payments and was attempting to trick clubs into thinking they would get money that they would never see. That is appalling.
Making a mess of your own club is bad enough, but acting without conscience and lying to other clubs is unforgivable. Additionally, he was offering contracts to potential players knowing that they were likely not to be worth the money they were printed on 6 months later. This man is a compulsive liar, who has shown complete disregard for the existence of other clubs and this could cause serious problems for them.
It remains to see if a CVA can be agreed, I Imagine HMRC will make this very difficult. Mr Whyte can expect to be treated with the same contempt he has demonstrated to everyone else in Scottish Football when he attempts to raise the club again.
I hope Stephen Thompson and all other SPL chairman make it impossible for them to come straight back into the SPL if the club liquidates.
I would like to add that I feel great sympathy for all the decent Rangers fans out there, of which there are many. You don't deserve to have this criminal in charge
What disgusts me most

Wonder
The game can easily survive without Rangers, there is a suggestion that it may be weakened and this may be true. However, the game will always survive regardless if whether Rangers do.
I don't remember the SFA helping out Dundee, Livi or Motherwell when they went into administration, to help Rangers would be favouritism and unethical. The SFA should be helping clubs like United who are due ticket money from the cup competition which the SFA run.
As I said I feel sorry for the good supporters and the people who will inevitably lose their jobs in the coming weeks. Whyte is responsible for 90% of this. Horrible man

Ditto. I can't remember anyone saying Scottish football would die if Celtic went bust, as they were about to in the 90's as well.
I only ask because every radio show, mainly talksport, are asking if the SFA should intervene and most are saying yes.
Personally, if they do, I think it will cause a huge backlash from Airdrie, Dundee supporters etc.

I agree with this as well, how the hell can someone blow roughly £25 mil in 9 months!! However, David Murray needs to accept responsibility for buying players when he fine well knew what he was doing was wrong. It's Murray's fault the tax man is after them, in the first place.

Yeah Murray is entirely at fault for the tax situation, however at least he has admitted this. Murray has committed huge business errors and dodged the correct tax channels. The difference is that Whyte is a born liar and will never put his cards on the table. This man can never be trusted.

Arab agree with everything you say. Personally I never thought Whyte had any intention of getting Rangers out of this situation by honourable means. I never believed he was a billionaire and I never believed he was a Rangers supporter. He should be facing criminal charges for withholding tax and NI from HMRC. I just hope that he is not allowed to walk away from this with a healthy profit scot free.

Good article. He is a ruthless clown but by the time the bears have finished with him there won't be much of him left.

Good article Knight, although there are couple of things I disagree with but I'm on my phone so will come back to this later.
Stuff about the Predictor will go up today as well, before one so keep an eye out for that as well

I find it hard not to agree with this.
What I would add is that this guy is NOT Rangers
He may have the ownership at the moment but his actions do not reflect the feelings of the support.
The sooner he is out the better for ALL.
Rangers and Scottish football do not deserve this character.
We need someone to come in and sort this out.
I understand the feelings but lets not let this guys short term acts spoil 140 years of a clubs existence.

I'm going to post an article about all of this soon so will keep my views short.
I appreciate my club needs to suffer in some way to make this right but being liquidated and starting over as a Newco doesn't meet anybodies needs. What needs to happen is that the tax due should be repaid in full. If that takes five years or longer so be it. I don't see why decent fans should be made to suffer for the actions of a few.
As for the SFA and SPL, I hope they don't bail us out but I'm assuming there might be a view that Rangers are too big to fail in the same way the banks were bailed out by the government. They have a degree of culpability though in allowing such a charlatan to take over and get away with it as long as he did. Someone with his background should not be allowed to have taken over in the first place. This smacks of the half hearted job they did with Graham Rix when he took over at Hearts.
What I hope they do is ring fence money that is due to be paid to Rangers for the rest of the season so that Hearts and Dundee Utd get their money.
As for Whyte being 90% to blame, I can't agree with that as that let's the previous administration off to lightly.

Good response bud. It's the many decent bears loke yourself that I have great sympathy for.
Having seen a club in my city go through this twice I have a little understanding of the effects on the wider community. This is likely to effect a significant number of innocent people.
