I got rubbished for this earlier by some reality-denying Gers but they need to stop denying and do something before it's too late.
In the event that an employer does not remit PAYE contributions to HMRC, the employee remains liable even through the deductions have been made at source.
Our friends seems to fail to grasp this important point. From HMRC themselves

Under certain circumstances employees can be made liable for under-deducted and unpaid PAYE and NIC"
This has been done before. I don't imagine that the players will be too thrilled to know this.
