Seven years without a trophy...

I couldn't care less. Trophies, honestly, aren't that important to me, they're nice for a brief period but personally I hold progression in far higher importance.

For instance Birmingham won the Carling Cup last season, Portsmouth won the FA Cup a few season's before that and look where they are now.

In reality the League is a better measure of progression and even then it doesn't show it properly as your rivals could get significantly better or worse.

What really matters is whether your club are moving in the right direction on and off the pitch not trophies.

Sadly we're not, we're instead selling our best players and giving our poor one's long lucrative contracts but winning the FA Cup this season wouldn't have changed that.

Trophies, they are nice but not the be all and end all...

fred basset - if we all support a team for trophies then we will all be plastic man u fans. i love my team, would love to see us win things but also know no matter what its my team..win, lose, good or bad

You've put a spin on a notion that isn't there.

You're claiming we only support Liverpool because they win trophies.

That's not really accurate is it. We're saying that as a Liverpool fan, it's only natural to consider success as being associated with silverware.

We support Liverpool all our lives regardless of whether we win or don't win trophies but we all know what is real success.

I'd like to look back toward the end of my life and think Liverpool won trophy a, b and c.

I'd hate to look back in 50 years and think 'well, we didn't pick up any tropies but we finished 2nd and 3rd in league a lot'

Russia

My Dad was a Liverpool fan and always wanted his son to be one . My local team has changed too much anyway with moving around.

"Plastic man u fans"? You was obviously born a few days ago weren't you? We have had a large fanbase way before our success in the PL era, and we broke attendance records in the mid 70's when we got relegated. So shutup please, you clearly know feck all

Arab

If you're saying that United doesn't have any plastic fans, you're delusional.

Of course they do, but he's claiming all of them are plastic.

arab you got it wrong. i was saying if we just follow a team for trophies then WE are gonna be plastic fans for supporting man u because they win trophies. so don't get too defensive about it. i know all are not plastic, i mean there must be 1 or 2 that arn't ..

My mistake, thought you're generalising us all.
