As the Aussie selectors ditch Ponting from ODI cricket, simultaneously Tendulkar recieves an accolade from ESPNcricinfo for a century against SA 12 months ago. Presumably that was his 99th century so I suppose they've got fed up of waiting for his 100th century.
Ponting sacked from ODI's Tendulkar hailed.

I wrote this article because of the juxtaposition of these two great players having such differing news at the same time.
Poting on tests seemed to be showing a return to form so his failures in ODI are something of a surprise.
Tendulkar getting an award for a performance in a year which has hardly one to remember is odd.

Isn't the ICC contractually obliged to give ST at least one award in every 12 month period regardless of how much, or the quality of the Cricket he has played?

ESPNcricinfo are pretty sycophantic toward all things Indian. They know where their bread is buttered.

Having a whinge hope ? That century was crucial as it earned India it's first tied series in SA ever. Not to mention Steyn was picking wickets in that series like pebbles off the ground.

He also didn't walk when he clearly edged a catch to Boucher in that innings.

Ricky Ponting 'considering future' after being dropped by Australia.

Surely he's not going to retire completely. I hope not the thought of him becoming a commentator is frightening, where will he keep his gum.

i think tendulkar is going on the same line as ponting. just dont see tendulkar making a comeback. he is losing the respect, and many people even their die hard fans are callingg him a liabilty for the team. I think tendulkar is paying for choosing ipl over national duty and he deserves all the critisicm he is getting. if he went to that west indies tour, where none would have given the importance of 100th 100, then he wouldnt be in this stage. he has gone effetively 4 different series without a 100.

viru Tendulkar is still good enough to play test cricket and would probably have played better if the BCCI had been more proactive in bringing in new blood earlier. It must be difficult to perform in a team that's failing so badly.
I think Lara might have continued longer if the WI had better players to support him.
