Joint statement of ICC, ECB and PCB on Danish Kaneria
Following reports in the media in which Danish Kaneria claims to have been issued with a clearance certificate, the ICC, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) can categorically deny that such a clearance certificate was ever issued.
The PCB stated that, following the Mervyn Westfield judgment, Danish Kaneria will again be called to appear before the Integrity Committee to explain his position.
The PCB also confirmed that the Kaneria clearance matter is pending before the Integrity Committee of the PCB where in the last meeting he was directed to provide copies of the tapes of his Essex police interview.
What do you guys think on this issue? I've heard that Kaneria's name was mentioned during the whole saga before.
Do you think that there is a good chance that he's guilty?

Isnt Danish just the guy who simply introduced Westfield to the illegal bookmakers. I don't think there is any evidence of him doing any spot fixing yet.

Acting as an agent is an offence in cricket. Without an intermediary the offence of spot fixing would not have occurred. That so many Essex players have given his name forward, it does seem he was involved. Impossible for the police to act but probably sufficient for the ICC.

Hope and Dernbach not heard you guys comment as to why Amir got 6 months and Westfield got only 4 months?

kash it's because I don't know the answer. Maybe because the previous judge believed Amir and the others were involved in earlier fixes or that they were representing their country at the time rather than an minor county.
One thing is sure Westerfield will not get the opportunity to play cricket again. He'll be fortunate to get a job on minimum wage stacking baked beans at a supermarket. Amir will get great help and support to return to cricket.

I guess your right hope and i guess doing the crime in an international match is more serious as its in the global scale compared to a county match.

kash whatever the rights and wrongs it's a sad business for everyone. I think it's the middle men who deserve the greater punishment.
