Just wondered what you guys thought about Van der Vaart. Sure he is a good player and contributes goals but when we have been at our best, it has been when we played a 4-4-2 without Rafa. Playing 4-4-2, we destroyed Liverpool 4-0, Newcastle 5-0 and Wigan 9-1. It just seems like we are always trying to fit him in, when we play best as a 4-4-2 without him. If a club placed a £15 million bid for him, I would take it. Thoughts?

Van Der Vaart is a winner, he was part of taking us to the next level, don't wish players like him away after finally attracting someone of his quality..

Yep agree with Chetspurs I'm sure the 4411 could work also

VDV with dem electric shock belts on would be perfection (the RDBD will teach you where not to go on the pitch) .
That aside, he is a big game player who often delivers (NLD etc) .

Answering your question also, no I wouldn't give vdv away for 15million, he's too valuable and a very commited person, so we need to show commitment to him

Do we need Van Der Vaart?
Of course we need him. He's one of our best players. Is this a serious article?

Nika - I think the title's more to gain responses, the article asks whether we could replace him with someone better suited

NikaModcar, I am not saying he is a bad player, but sometimes it seems like square pegs in round holes. We play best in a 4-4-2 but he can't play in that formation. He can only play in a 4-4-1-1, which isn't our best formation.
