Catch Up

I'm rarely on here these days, I dunno what it is, and why (Could be a little thing like not being able to get straight to business the moment I enter the website, I have to log in etc. Unlike the original 606 where you'd always be remembered. Admins take note.) but I thought I'd drop by and leave an article.

I've been to a majority of games this season, home and away. I've been very pleased by the season. Correct me if I'm wrong but we haven't dropped out of at least the playoff position since October? That's a massive achievment by the Dons, and I was worried for the start of the season, losing Leven and continued speculation regarding Sammy really left me thinking "Could we do a Swindon" as I'm sure you'll ALL recall, Swindon were in the League One playoff final just 2 and a half years ago, and they now find themselves in League Two, despite it being a positive season so far for them.

But credit where it's due, Robinson and Gorman have themselves been an amazing duo. Their tireless efforts have been exactly what we've needed this season, and the players' all round contribution has been admirable.
I dunno if you'll recall but I did suggest that we sign Dean Bowditch a few times last year, and remarkably he did sign and he's so far proving to be an excellent signing. Another player who actually wants to play for this club, and his efforts are showing.
I also said once we lost Smithy that James Tavernier would be a perfect replacement and hey, 5 games in, can't say he's disappointed at all.

Alan Smith was a signing I was biting my lip over but his efforts and commitment against Huddersfield and Charlton were there to be seen, even if he's looked a bit tired and unfit.

I don't often predict outcomes, scorelines or what not anymore BUT if we go into the playoffs with a fully fit squad I can see it happening. I can see us beating Stevenage, Wednesday and Huddersfield if we were to come up against them. We need all the support we can get so let's get behind the lads as we start to enter the 'business end' of the season.

COYD as you say McMaccer

On the issue of logging in - get yourself logged in and then on the MK Dons main page - the url should look like this:
http://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/browseByTag/Milton%20Keynes%20Dons

Save that in your favourites (links) and use that to click on when you go to 606 - in theory it should take you straight in.

More importantly Robbo and Gorman have done an amazing job and inspite of all our worries with some of our players leaving at the start of the season - reality was he has got rid of a whole bunch of players and in my view replaced them with ones who have real potential - and where the signing was not quite right (McNamee - and no offence to him) he has moved them on.

So although the squad is small - I never groan when someone is being subbed on as they are all good enough.

If the squad is fully fit at the ned of the season and we are in the play offs - hard though it will be - like you I think we can beat any of them. I can only see Smith getting better as he gets fully match fit

Onwards and upwards - and keep on the boards McM - we seem to be light on contributors at the mo - not even a thread about the Bury game

I am still hopeful of an auto spot, I know as it looks now we are not favorite for auto but we have had two bad spells this season and the other teams have not had the same poor patches. I have noticed that as we come to the business end of the season the other teams arround us are looking a little bit suspect.

I would rather be where we are sitting just off the auto's chugging along without the estra pressure of trying to maintain an auto.. We have had 2 dodgy patches but realistically the 2nd was only as a result of the teams we were playing. If these games would have been spread out in a couple of months we would have been quite happy with the results. I do believe Charlton will slip even further and Sheff Utd have yet to slip.. Good results by Notts County last night with a last gasp winner.

Its been a great season. Karl and John have done a great job, but i'm not confident of success in the play-offs. When is the last time we beat a top 6 side? We just can't seem to take one of our few chances against them, and our inevitable defensive slip-ups are usually punished.

I actually think we've got a great chance of knockin' on the door for autos. If you just look at our fixtures, we've got a great chance to pile on the points and put the pressure on.

March will be our defining glory!!!
With 8 games to play, 5 at home against teams well below us. If we are going to show our pedigree as a serious championship contender we need to put to bed at least 6 of these convincingly and a couple of draws thrown into the mix. If we can achieve 18-20pts as a minimum we will be knocking on the door of the auto's.
Lets face it, if we go about these games the right way and keep up the performances we have seen over the past month its well achievable. The fixtures do favour the DONS more so than our rival top six teams. Another massive weekend with Stevenage V Charlton and the 2 Sheffield teams going head to head..
BRING IT ON...........

Cheers MooCamp

I've looked at the fixtures and right up untill Preston (Just pointing them out as difficult opposition as they beat us at home) we have games we should win.
So I'm excited about the up and coming months.

Good to see you back Maccer. I do hope we get to the automatics as most of the other managers have said we are the best team they have played against. We also seem to struggle in the playoffs while we aren't that successful against physical teams like Wednesday, Sheff Utd & Stevenage. I just hope if it is the play offs (and we still have a lot of games to win) Robbo has come up with a game plan to beat them.

I think we've learnt a lot from last year, evidently so this season.
I think we have a better squad and funnily enough, we remind me of how Posh were last season. I think we've replaced Leven very well, and Ithink if you look at the fixtures we have a great chance of finishing higher than the Playoffs
