...when fans of other teams are so jealous of United they will harp on and on and on about anything, just so they can vent their bitterness and anger.
I mean, when I read "We/they shouted louder than you did!!" I am in tears, a broken man, rolling around on the floor wondering if my world has ended, every time I read that pithy barbed put down.
I guess it's a natural progression from the playground classic "My dad's bigger than your dad"
I love it...

european fans always outsing english fans. there's just a different culture on the continent, the fact that they're allowed to stand up helps as well.

Big stadiums like OT can't keep the atmosphere in due to structure of the stadiums taking away the noise, stadiums like WHL keep the noise in because it's a tightly packed stadium. The Stretty end can drum up a great atmosphere on certain match days, and like Didi said it's just during the big games OT starts rocking.

that's actually a very good point, arab. my season card is in the north stand but i've been behind both goals since old trafford's most recent expansion and while it sounds loud in the stand that you're in, the other end is barely audible and it's because of the size of the place. has anyone ever been late and missed an early goal whilst outside the ground? in the old days the roar used to be deafening, now it sounds very muted, again the size of the place means that the sound generated inside is so well contained. having said that when everyone's up for it we're the loudest support around. barcelona at home in 2008 was immense for example, the whole ground was stood up at times and the rendition of "we'll never die" in the last couple of minutes was something else.

Exactly, I mean I doubt the likes of Nou Camp or the Santiago Bernabeau can drum up a great atmosphere every game can it? The stadiums are massive with so much spaces in it for the noise to go out of. WHL is an example of a tightly packed stadium for the sound to vibrate from all areas and echo through our ear drums because there's hardly any space in it's structure.

agreed. white hart lane along with goodison park is probably my favourite ground in the country actually. everything about it just screams 'proper football' at you.

The last few games I've been to at OT I've sat in the East stand next to the away fans, get some good banter in there.
Felt for the large bloke down at pitch side, they were absolutely hammering him and his mate at the Bolton game

You felt the large bloke?
