Brandywell for ROI Matches?

Now that The Brandywell the home of League of Ireland side Derry City has been earmarked to receive Millions of pounds in redevelopment funding this will be an ideal opportunity for the FAI to stage an Historic first ever International in the North.

The redeveloped Brandywell will definitely be capable of staging U21 matches but maybe it could also be used to stage a few ROI friendlies.

A thank you to our Northern based support.

Thomond Park in Limerick and the RDS in Dublin have previously staged full ROI internationals over the past few years.

I think this would be an ideal goodwill gesture by the FAI towards the people of Derry and also our other supporters in the North.

I would hope that the IFA would show some maturity and fairness in not opposing the ROI to stage a match in what is in effect their jurisdiction. Even though Derry City are affiliated with the FAI and not the IFA!!!

Afterall, the vast majority of Football fans in the city of Derry would be supporters of the Republic of Ireland side and 3 of our brightest prospect in the English Premiership, Mc Clean,Duffy and Gibson all hail from this city.

Peoples thoughts.

Good idea B.I.G. .I think Derry will bring home silverware this season , with both Sligo and the Hoops having new managers, so there'll be decent crowds at the Brandywell anyway.

Great idea. A few U21 matches and full international friendly would go down well.

Brilliant idea. Gibbo you book the bus and the DC and Reds fans can travel up to Free Derry together. Can we stop at The Elk for a wee pint Gibbo?

Just think Robbie , if they do play a game in Derry , you will have to cross that famous border. I say make it happen, for the sake of Robbie.
