Tainted

I’ve read a couple of things over the last few days about this seasons title being tainted if we win it. This flimsy comfort blanket is being touted about by guys such as Hately.

Let’s look at the facts through less angry and upset eyes.

Celtic pulled back a 15 point gap and then went on to go 4 points clear before Rangers went into administration. Even when they had Jelavic we where ahead of them.

Anybody with a clue can tell you the moment Rangers title hopes died was when Naysmith got injured.

What McCoist had was a league winning team from the previous year. Instead of this team being further weakened, they strengthened. More players where brought in than the previous few seasons.

But, through McCoist’s management they managed to crash out of Europe.

We on the other hand, struggled badly to rekindle and build on the form of the previous season. Luckily Sion cheated and we were allowed back into Europe. At first this had an adverse effect on us. We struggled to find form in Europe and in the league after a European game.

This all came to a head when we played Kilmarnock. Lenny was ready to walk and a lot of fans were calling for his head.

On the other side of Glasgow, Rangers had beaten a struggling Celtic and in the league they were playing with confidence. One injury dented that confidence at the same time as Celtic started playing well in Europe. Our form was slowly returning just as Rangers were stuttering.

This is the point when McCoist showed his managerial frailties. Instead of rallying his team to pick up their game, the slow decline started. Poor performances and weird squad selections allowed Celtic to close the gap because, believe it or not bears….We actually played better football than anybody in the league.

Guys like Hately only hide behind the 10 point deduction because admitting McCoist is not a very good manager, would be admitting that everything about Rangers at the moment is broken.

In the midst of all this mess they see themselves in, is a wee point they are missing. McCoist is out of his depth in management.

We didn’t need the 10 points.

Hail, Hail

Dos, because Celtic played in Europe, the coef isn't as bad as it could have been.

Our problems in form are well documented at that part of the season. But, we showed we can compete in Europe in the group stages this season.

Our hope for next season rests with the likes of Motherwell pulling a Malmo.....It does happen.

Dos, I think we might see a very different European set up from the one we have today I.e. a permanent league of Europe. This will put pressure on UEFA and the rich EPL for tv money and break the cosy cartel
