I'm with clive Rowlands on this, thinking that Terry Holmes has it wrong.

Hear, hear, I completely agree. The WRU have been covering up a a lot of this behaviour for years. It wasn't that long ago an incident involving Ospreys players was covered up. Players puffing green, getting blotto and fighting in a pub somewhere, can't remember the exact details but a lot was spread around to keep the whole thing hush hush.
The only reason I found out was through some friends who live in the area and pointed me to the article concerning the incident.
We wouldn't have heard much on this if it wasn't for the images people managed to catch.
I'm sick of hearing about these players to be honest and it's made worse when the lads I teach in Gloucestershire start asking me about it! It's an embarrassment

Ding he was pictured in Cardiff at 3am being manhandled by some doormen to the ground, it was outside a Mc Donalds I believe.
Haven't got the time now but the images were all over the net, if you care to look.
Basic thing for me is that I dont see how these so called top sportsmen can be allowed to behave in ways like this, ordinary folk would be banged up.
Says a lot about the "attitude" of too many to their chosen profession?!?!?

Ah i see. i was wondering what it was he had done but was too lazy to go anf find out.
I suppose in modern Rugby the Pro's are seen as role models and expected to act accordingly but you know Rugby players have always been a bit rock 'n' roll
Wasn't it the Calcutta cup that got kicked down the streets of scotland until it resembled a tin can a few years back (well many years back haha) After match celebrations saw the captains of both sides having a game of footy with the cup hahaha
or so the story goes.
Rock 'n' Roll baby

agree that it is a long tradition..........but that was in the amateur days, in the professional era I think that we can, and should, expect more of our players.
The sport is littered with players who've overstepped the mark, from ALL nations and the only one to get a real sentence was Dean Richards, most others have all been covered up, or treated too leniently.

In fairness - from what I hear - Phillips has a reputation for this kind of stuff/attitude in Wales anyway
