Listening to FiveLive with Dean Ashton summarizing for the Norwich-United game, and he was asked what an achievement Giggs' 900 appearances are. Must be horrible for him to answer such a question with the way his career ended. As a younger generation fan, I can certainly say he was one of my favourite players of the Premier League era. He was awesome for both Norwich and West Ham, and when we see players like Gareth Barry get over 50 caps for England, I wonder how many caps Dean would have got. From what I saw from him, I can't help but feel he would have added a lot to the Arsenal team of recent years. Perhaps we may have even saw him form a great partnership with RvP. I hope Dean involves himself in coaching or management because he seemed like a top bloke

Saw him as a young lad play for crewe. Terrible loss to football.

It is a shame what happened to Dean Ashton. He was such a promising player. At West Ham (before his career-ending injury), you could see he was different class. Had he stayed fit, he would undoubtedly have gone on to become a great player.

It is a shame that any footballer has his career ended, such a short while into it. But i think Ashton was a bit over-rated & would never have been a regular international.

Even on an article such as this chicken still can't bring himself to praise a West Ham player, that is more than a little sad.

Why should i praise a West Ham player just because his career was ended at a young age?
How pathetic?!
