Belleti Retires but Did We Miss Him?

Heard belleti has just retired because of an achilles problem. We had some really good moments with him especially those spectacular goals and long range attempts. I feel we let him go at the right time. We shouldn't have felt the loss though. The main problem was that ancelotti refused to trust younger players of similar skill and versatility like jack cork. This is the main reason why the released players affected us. Youth players weren't trusted with responsibility and we were effectively a 17 man squad. Deco left, but he was a squad player, why wasn't mceachran trusted with being his replacement? Same with joe and sturridge/kakuta. Most of these players wouldn't have had a slot due to the 25 man squad rule. I feel we let them go at the right time and shouldn't have missed them as much if carlo trusted some younger players.

I think Bruma should replace Belleti, plays the sane positions as him plus CB, has a good shot and can also take set-pieces, both direct and indirect. Plus he's homegrown and did pretty well on loan towards the ennd.

I believe bruma can replace belleti. He scored some belters and takes good free kicks as well. Its good carlo's no longer in charge, he had little faith in youngsters especially the not-so-spectacular ones. Hope villas gives these players some games. I've got this feeling kakuta might tear lower level teams like fulham, newcastle apart next season if villas places faith in him.

Once again Izuta I agree with you

AVB has a good record with youngsters, gave the likes of James Rodriguez, Maicon, Walter and a few other youths well over double figures in appearances in all comptetions. He also started them in the early rounds of the Portoguese domestic cups.

And on Kakuta, I think that if he stays he should definately be given a chance as back-up. He did no worse than Zhirkov and Malouda and the guys not even 20 yet, he'll improve.

I liked Belletti - he looked classy, but possibly past his best when with us.

Good luck to the old boy!

Agreed with comments on Carlo. The man was a big disappointment - not much sign of his quality as tactician, selector, and most telling of all, (sad to say), courage.
