Steve Cotterill - Success or Failure?

When McLaren was sacked and SC took over can you remember what your thoughts were?

Mine were thank goodness - SC was not my choice but I thought he had to be an improvement on SM. At the time we were lying 21st i.e. just outside the relegation zone and I was hoping that we would finish outside the bottom six. Admittedly after winning his first couple of games my expectations were raised but then came the Leeds match and all that followed and before the game against Cov I though we were just about doomed.

So what are my expectations now and what would make me think that SC has had a successful season. Well I think we will survive, and I think that for SC a finish outside the bottom six will rank as success. Relegation will obviously be a failure; 19th, 20th, or 21st will be neither one nor the other.

I am still reserving judgement.

Any other thoughts on what will constitute success or failure for SC this season

yeah obviously yak. When we win its down to SOD. When we lose its SCs fault. Brilliant logic

Philo, maybe I didn't construct the question well enough.

I was not asking if SC has been a success or failure; I was asking what he would have to do to be considered either one of those 'imposters'

Of course it's all down to SOD.

Just remind me why we all wanted SC sacked and not Rob Kelly (or JFH).

(That should set the cat amongst the pigeons)

Can't believe some think finishing 20th with this squad is success. When McClaren was moaning you were all saying this is better than the squad Billy had he should stop moaning and get on with it. Now 20th is success. Wow

I notice Earnshaw didn't play yesterday for Cardiff. I bet we'd be at least a couple of places further up if he'd stayed, as he knows how to score a goal; such a shame to see his career fizzling out on the bench. If I was manager I would have asked Cardiff if we could have him back, as I'm sure he'd rather be playing than sitting.

20th will be neither success nor failure in my eyes but it will be enough for him to keep his job and put together a squad for next season.

I was not one who thought SM's squad was better than Billy's; how could it have been when it was so much smaller. The squad now is better than Billy's, but we are going to lose at least five at the end of the season. It will then be up to SC to show his mettle by 'advising and recommending' who to keep and who to bring in.

Just for the Record I think 17th will be a success for SC

A couple of better results. Is it down to SOD? I wouldn't necessarily say so. But if it proves to be longer-term you can bet it is!
