Quote from the great man on the Saverangers site. (I saw it while I was giving a few grand)
"To be a Ranger is to sense the sacred trust of upholding all that such a name means in this shrine of football. They must be true in their conception of what the Ibrox tradition seeks from them. No true Ranger has ever failed in the tradition set him."
What's that all about? No wonder they are confused!!
What does 'upholding such a name' mean?

DC...I do have to ask...but humour me...explain it to me in the hope that I might at least be able to grasp the basics.
And by the way..I don't automatically assume it's about religion. I'm not sure it's about anything.

It means you are expected to go to all the meetings and drink goats blood, and observe all the other voodoo customs.
