It is an acronym meaning Wind-Up Merchant.
It refers to someone who posts on message boards and newsgroups with the intention to cause as much disruption as possible by goading others.

WUMS are healthy for forums. Add a bit of diversity. I personally like WUMS who WUM thier own club. Chelsea's very own Capello leaves me in stitches with his threads.
I'm going to see if I can find other members who WUM thier own clubs and get thier fellow fans going potty.
