Hoons

It's the managers job to get the best out of the players. He decides what players play and in what system. Who else I'm I going to talk about?

There was a Q&A session last night Sutton, at the CG with Luke Chambers. I didn't go, but know someone who did.

Chambers said that McLaren was clueless. The players didn't understand what he was doing, how to respond to him, how to play the way they wanted to. He said that McLaren took away any confidence that had built up over the last couple of seasons, in the short time he was here.

He said Cotterill was restoring this confidence. He said the players respected Cotterill and wanted to play well for Cotterill. He said the work Cotterill had been putting in was starting to pay off. He said that it had taken longer than everyone in the team would have liked, but the team spirit was back, and that was largely down to Cotterills management of the team.

This is what is important Sutton. This is why we are starting to play well Sutton. This is why you should get behind the manager and team, and help to be the '12th' man that is so important, rather than constantly whinging and moaning about the bl00dy manager.

Chambers also said it was a footballers job to run around a lot, and this is why McGugan wasn't getting in the team at the moment

_______

And if McClaren was still manager he'd have said nice thing about him. What do you expect him to say?

"yeah look, I'm sorry it's been a poor season but Cotterills useless"

On match days I'm behind the team. This whole get behind them sutton!! Thing I always hear is quite annoying. I've got a season ticket in A Block the one area in the ground that always tries to get an atmosphere going, that tries get behind the team. I bet half the people that tell be to get behind the team sit in upper BC and moan everytime someone misplaces a pass.

This is a forum for giving opinions, and that's what I do on here. Getting behind the team is something you do on matchdays. I'm more than happy with my contribution to the cause in the respect.

I'm not going to start saying Cotterills a good manager because he's not. And I don't give a monkeys what Chambers says, he talks as much garbage as Cotterill.

Lol at the moaning from the upper BC sutton.... If I'm honest here there are a few around me that do. But having been in the A block, they too have their fair share of moaners.

Can I ask you this....... taking into account that I am still on the fence with SC. Would not have been my choice as manager but I am holding out to see what happens in the next few weeks.

If he kept us up... stayed at the club, took us to the playoffs or better... (I know it is a big ask) this is based on FC saying he will still be here next year...will you acknowledge that he would have become a good (not great) manager or don't you think he would warrant it?

That's a tough one Webbo.

I'll just start by being predicable and saying there's no chance that will happen. But for the sake of debate, its a tricky one.

You could say if he's managed in the league for 5/6 seasons and had 1 good one, that's not a very success rate and you can't really say he's a good manager. Certainly in this league where managers often have one good season, get hailed as a great young manager then get sacked by Plymouth 2 years later. I'm thinking of the likes of Hart, Dowie, Micky Adams, Boothryd etc. It happens quite a lot that bad managers have one good season at this level.

But on the other hand managers can improve as they go along, I think Holloway or Pulis are good examples of this. I don't think you can judge a manager on one season, but if Cotterill could string two good seasons together then he'd have a strong case to say hed become a good manager.
