What do we reckon lads and lasses? When you get one of your good mates to talk you up and to tout you for a job, it means you're keen to do it right?
Even on reduced wages though he's going to be wanting to be paid the most we could afford. Would he be worth it?
Clean S.W.eeP ?

I see your point Rowbot, but the way I'm looking at it is that I would rather have a very good player like SWP on 30k a week than spend half that on a player who is not as good as Lee and who is only going to be a back up player, because if Lee got an injury for an extended period of time then it'd work out to be a false economy.
I'd rather have two very good players pushing each other for that first team slot.

I would rather see us spend cash on Rodrigo who can play upfront or as we saw can replace Lee with ease if needs be he is younger than SWP and has far more room to improve i think straight cash for Cahill from Arsenal (17m i hope) and spend 4m of that on Rodrigo who will be a better player in years to come, He can add competition for places upfront and covers right wing as well win win situation and he falls into Coyle's wants young talented player unlike SWP who for me as lived on the coat trails of his dad for far too many years with very little end product to show for all that cash he has taken from big clubs

Yeah fair enough, WF
But, BWFC have little money to spend, there are more important areas than right wing to sort out first. Lee is arguably our best player. So he should be playing, and if SWP is to be paid 30k per week he should be playing too
Now, SWP is bobbins at left wing and I don't think Lee is much better.
This means that Coyle will have to shuffle the pack if he is to play them both, the only viable option I see for that is SWP right wing and Lee in a long of free role like he has for Korea.
I just think there is more chance of me winning the Euromjllions jackpot than Coyle doing that.
I would be a lot happier if we signed 2 strikers before we went for back-up players

Wright Phillips could play as a wing back with Lee in front of him, might not be the best option defensively but going forward it would be brilliant.

UGH!
Not for me. SWP defending is a bad, bad idea!

A 5ft 5in winger at wing back, somehow doesn't seem like a good idea

If he's willing to play for £4.50 and a couple of crates of tizer then I don't see why we couldn't bob in with a bid, stick him on the left and ask him to cut in making us a bit more pacey and dangerous through the middle maybe.
Also If this means the end of his England career as a result then that is also a bonus. Even though it may give his dad more reason to spout his nonsense.

The worst thing any manager could do is to ask a right footer to play left wing, in my opinion. Especially SWP
Pace through the middle is ludicrous. To use pace, you need space, space is provided by wide men staying wide.
Every time I hear someone come up with a tactic like this, I always wonder if they have actually put any though into it. Him cutting inside categorically WILL NOT work. Cutting inside often slows the game up, gives opposition players time to get behind the ball and usually only ends up with the team in possession going sideways.
This is why signing SWP won't work, he is a good player, but we already have a good/better player in his position
