Agree that Meggy improved the team a lot! However, if the form of the last two months continued we would have been struggling to make the playoffs let alone autos. That is MM's reasoning. Whether that is fair on Meggy or not is a different question BUT Meggy didn't make any claim to be playing attractive or attacking football, his sole aim was results through consistency.

I'm not going to sit on the fence with Jones. I didn't want him - thats my default position.
Jones has to win me over - that means automatic promotion, anything less will be a failure. I might then start to warm to him. This does not mean that I won't be fully supportive of him - he is one of us now. So I will give him my backing.
I hope Mandaric is just as demanding of Jones as he was of Megson, a Wednesdayite.

I agree, he starts in 3rd, therefore, anything less than 2nd would be considered a failure.
In fact, Jones is in a no win situation, if he gets 2nd, then everyone will say it was Megson's team. If Wednesday stays 3rd, then people will say he made no difference. If they finish less than 3rd, he will have failed.
Must say, it serves him right.

If he gets the ppg back up to 2 from 1.4, where it is now, then he will have succeded.

Other teams around us will have the same incentive to get 2nd spot. But, yes, getting 2 ppg will be a massive help and may just be enough - only time/results will tell.
Jones has to get us into the auto spot that is up for grabs. Otherwise Megson's sacking will have been a pointless and potentially damaging exercise for the club. If Mandy has to get rid of Jones in the near future then what manager would want to touch us with a barge-pole?

'So one promotion after been given shed loads of cash and then nothing, just a bunch of nearlys. Terrible choice, would have prefered Di Canio and he achieved sod all yet. '
Have you ever looked at Megson's managerial record? It's nothing brilliant either. Not sure what calibre of manager you expect a 3rd division side to be able to attract either.

For what it's worth, Jones win ratio is over 40%, Meggos is 32%. Possibly reflects in part the fact that Jones has had more money and has managed bigger fish in smaller ponds than Megson.
I think Megson has improved the team, also. However we had a bad run of form before and during Xmas and he bought in Jan and that bad run of form has largely continued. Theres no evidence that we are going to go back to our form of last autumn, and if we keep on then we'll be lucky to make the play-offs. I don't necessarily agree with MMs decision - I'd like to have seen Megson be given the rest of this season and the start of next to maintain stability and give him more chance to build 'his' team - but I can see why he made it.
As for DJones, are we really likely to get a better manager for a club in the 3rd tier?

I like the comment from Jones "I've had a lot of calls asking why I have dropped down to League One"
I wonder if he said "Because no-one lese wanted me"
or "Sheffield Wednesday were the only club where I could get the Manager fired"

Just seen this other gem from Jones ""I spoke to Milan last week and he said he was considering making a change. I told him that if that was the case then I would be interested in the job."
So instead of supporting Megson and saying "Milan, I think you are being a bit hasty, you are 3rd in the League", he stabs him straight in the back and walks over him to get a job - what a really nice bloke

Yeh the bloke's hardly clean cut, skulking in the background waiting for one of his own to get the boot,no he's dishonourable and Megson ought to chin him!
Personally can't wait for him to get the boot next season when we're third in the championship..
