Football is not what it was used to be.
There's not one particular player that excites that much anymore.
As sensational, and special Messi is, even he doesn't get me of the edge off my seat.
Probably cause he skips past different teams, while hopping on one leg, each and every week. A testament to his ability.
What player just made you fall in love with the game of football?
There are certain players, that just make you put aside your support, and allegiance, making you stand up & applaud.
Last guy that left me stunned was Zidane against Brazil. Just exceptional. He made world class players look like amateurs.
Very slick.
Apart from Messi. I don't think there's a 'one in a generation' player, around.

Can't agree with this initial premise at all.
And neither can you it seems.
Your whole article says there isn't that one special player, apart fro Messi.
You can't exclude the special one when you are seeking the special one.
You are asking "who are the special players, when you exclude the special players? None!!! Therefore football ain't what it was 10 years ago!!"

Just took the words right out my mouth on that! How only one person has mentioned ronaldinho is crazy.
Ronaldinho at his best was the best player I have ever seen till this day. His football was amazing to watch.
Zidane gets his well deserved credit in here which I agree with, but Ronaldinho needs more recognition in an article like this.
