I for one, cant wait for the season to start...
Whats this about an excodus at blues?? Apart from the deadwood we released at the end of the season, no one else has left yet.
Ok, Craig 'The Mackem' Gardner is about to jump ship for £6m (maybe a £1m or 2 less than his real value) and we probably will sell Dann and Jerome for about £17m... Thats £23m in the coffers! Maybe I am being naive, but I dont think we need to recoup anymore than that. We just need to concentrate on holding onto;
Foster - has made no noises about wanting to leave
Johnson - as above
Michel - will be difficult, but im still hoping
Zigic - as above, but he is still injured so there may be no offers for him and hopefully he will get back to fitness for the new season
With the above and new players being brought in and blooding in the youth by CH, we should have a bloody good squad with the prospect some attacking football, not to mention at least a couple of European games!!
Ok, so we may sell the above 4 players (and I hope to god we dont!) but they can be replaced with some of the £25m they would recoup. And I think we can all trust CH to bring in the right players to do the job!
KRO!!
Relax... be happy!

So of the first team squad that we used last season we will probably have Ridgewell, Murphy, Carr, Beausejour (maybe), Mutch, Redmond, Davies and an unfit, demotivated want away Zigic. I do not envy Hughton his job. If he stops us being relegated a second time I think he will have done a very good job.

I agree that we need to sell a couple more players to reach 23 million and then the 16 mil parachute, will clear our debts. Sadly. if Hughton wants to buy, he will have to sell. It's then down to him to decide who else needs to go to raise spending money. I can see a lot of freebies and loan players coming in and maybe 1 or 2 actual cash signings. It's a tough job, but remember we will be playing a different style, or should I say, proper football, next season, compared to the dross we have become accustomed to. That alone is something to get excited about.

No offence lads, but my cup is half full.
We have a good attack minded manager.
He will shape the squad in his own style.
He may decide some of the players we regard as 'the better ones' as not suitable for the cause and will part with them for cash.
Others, he will talk to and try and persuade to stay, some will, some wont.
He will bring in his own players by loan, freebie or bought.
There is still a long way to go in transfer dealings at Stans, but all will become a bit clearer when he has had a chance to at least warm the seat in his new office.
Forever an Optimist.

blimey, your pessimistic?? Thats a very worst case scenario + Furgusen leaving......
I cant see that happening myself.
But dont forget, we already have;
Marlon King (complte git, but a good player)
Gomis (ok, we'll have to see this one for ourself)
That winger from Cardiff (cant remember his name but apparently a good player
And we are linked with players like Puncheon, Bangura, Leon Best and several other Newcastle players.
Im looking forward to it

I like the support for Hughton, oh that I felt it would continue should the going get tough. I feel Blues fans will turn on him as they turned on Bruce &, to a slightly lesser extent, McLeish.
But support is great, however let's not get carried away. Here's 52 year old man who has not established himself as a club manager at any club. Great that he had success at Newcastle, but he did not build the squad or get retained longer term. So, unless you boom and bust Blues fans have not learned the error of your ways yet, let's keep feet on the ground, support him to the hilt, but don't. please don't, raise expectations to a level that can only mean disappointment and a Hughton anti brigade setting up by the tenth game of the new season. The guy has a massive job on his hands.

Eihei
You've got Hughton tried, found guilty, hung and buried already.
Give the poor bloke a chance here!
Condemning the chap because he is 'only' 52.
Only got promotion first time.
Only got unjustly sacked because Mr RAshley thought 11th in the Prem wasn't good enough.
Tell you what, 11th is a darn sight better than 18th.
I have no problem with freedom of speech but to have him tied to a stake is a bit premature.

pikey 1875: I haven't a clue what you are responding to, but your responses have no bearing on what I said. I am not condemning, didn't I say 'total support'?? I guess the reallity is you don't like the facts laid out before you, and you probably would like to believe we have just signed Morinho as manager. Well, we haven't, and if would you read my post again without your predetermined views, you will see that all I have done is try to lay out a realism that will allow Hughton to do his job, a very very difficult job. Anyone who thinks that the Newcastle one season achievement by Chris is going to be replicated here is living in cloud cuckoo land, the two situations are quite different.
