We genuinely suck at taking and being a threat when we get a corner. Between the CC FInal and today's match we had won more than 30 corners. The amount of corners we win is a direct result of the attacking way we play. Surely then, if we can be more of a threat during the corners we win, we should be scoring alot more goals as a result of it. This Really frustrates me, as Gerrard, Downing, Adam and Bellamy all have the ability to provide a decent ball into the penalty area, and the likes of Skrtel, Carra, Carroll, Agger,Johnson and the like possess the height advantage to at least get headers on target. Until we start converting our multitude of set pieces during matches we can only dream of challenging for a top 4 finish, let alone challenging for the title imho. Thoughts?

"The opposition must be capable of holding off the attack to end in a corner, which they will be confident enough to defend."
Except for the times we press their defenders leaving no choice for them to play it out for a corner. Or the keeper miss-kicks. Or a keeper fumbling a catch. Or forcing it up the wing; with no one in support playing it off the last man for a corner is the best option, and thus the most attacking. Or us playing in a terrible cross, miscommunication in the opposition leads to a CB putting it out with no one with in 10yrds of him.
Yes, I have witnessed pretty much all of those in our last 2 games.
Don't be so naive to think that corners are always the result, and cause, of good defending.

O.k, 3mustgetbeers, from a defencive point of view, having been under some sort of pressure, a corner is better than conceeding a goal, a chance to regroup, and put into practice what you have been doing all week in training. Mark your given man and protect your keeper.
Teams , statistically, can deal with this against Liverpool.
That's not naive.
The op made this his whole point.

Holden....
We hit the post twice, missed a peno and flunked an open goal...THATS NOT THE OPPOSITION HANDLING OUR ATTACK

off the top of my head we've scored goals from corners against Chelsea, Cardiff, Man U im sure there are others... Chelsea and Man U mustnt have done their homework :/

The naivety I was referring to was that corners are given by defenses, not earned by attacks. To think that a defense comes out with the mentality of "Liverpool are poor at corners, ergo we just give them one and will counter from it" is naive.

Anfield, I beg to differ.
The keeper SAVED the penalty.
An open goal can be missed through the defence not giving much time to striker.
Again, hitting the post in trying to hit the shot past the well positioned keeper?
Job done by defence.
You can also,of course, put it down to appalling luck.

Penalty was poor, good save - the 2nd save was fantastic; hats off, didn't think the lad had it in him!!
Kelly, terrible, to let the ball go through your legs is shocking at that level.
Holden, the keeper was lay on the floor when the shot was taken. It was a right scuffle, and, in honesty would have been as lucky going in as it was unlucky hitting the post I guess

Kuyt should have wated the rebound in with Reinas cap. he completely fluffed it. My Granny could have saved that whilst stirring a pan of scouse and Red Leading the front step.

great article that really does hit a nerve
our set pieces, corners, penalties, free kicks have been shocking, the main culprits are Gerrard and Adam
you can probably make an excuse for everything else in the game but dead ball situations and professional footballers should never ever ever ever ever ever have to be raised as a isuue/concern yet we have had a problem for years with them
