Last nights result was predictable even if Villa deserved more. Villa are consistently good at throwing games away in the dying stages even under better management.
The sad realization that I have come to, is that I am starting to warm to relegation. It's not something that I want for the club for obvious financial reasons, but what else does the premiership offer us? Yes we could attract players from lower leagues, but so can any other relegation candidates. My point is, who would want to come to Villa under AM?
If AM is at the helm next season then we can only expect more of the same. Boring football, with a random result to keep us afloat. The only thing that has any creativity at VP are the writers of AM's excuses.
If we were relegated, then it would be more interesting playing different clubs and hopefully getting more victories.
I'm sure I will be lambasted for saying this and told I'm not a true fan - but that's simply how I feel. I can't bear watching my club decline and maybe would just prefer to be put out of my misery.

You won't go down- not this season anyway.
One more win and you will probably be just out of reach of the bottom 5.
If Lerner does not plough some money in over the summer you will have two problems a) players leaving b) nobody of quality coming in.
See Venky's/Blackburn if unsure this is correct.

if it makes you feel better i put 100 pounds on villa to drop yesterday morning. was hoping you would lose. as it is you are probably going to be safe, although i have learnt never to underestimate just how shat villa are, so you never know

That's the thing though, avoiding relegation doesn't excite me really - it simply means that we will likely have Eck and all that he brings next season too.
I can't blame any player that decides to leave VP this summer. Players like Bent, Ireland, Given, N'Zobgia, Clarke could all be playing at a much higher level, and of course they know that. What's more, because they aren't performing that well today, they will likely go at cheaper prices

indeed we are pretty crap alright this year. if McLeish stays we will be even worse next year. There are good managers available, but i am not sure if the board even care. I really hope that someone is talking to AVB. I really do, but i doubt they have even thought about it!

One snag with relegation; it doesn't guarantee that McLeish will go. But it almost certainly won't come to that; it needs 3 teams below us to go on a strong winning streak, and I can't see that happening.
If we stay up then I can't see too many players leaving voluntairily, as we've got almost no players of top 6 calibre, and money will be tight for the rest of the clubs. But they might get pushed out in a "sell-to-buy" push, so that McLeish can get in "his" players; funny how from the McLeish viewpoint it comes down to the players being at fault.
Will McLeish go? Club owners have a funny attitude. Lerner likes him, thinks he exhudes the sort of hard work and enthusiasm which he wants to see in a manager. It's a question of how sensitive Lerner is to what's happening on the pitch. On any judgement of relative success/failure Eck should go.

Correct McParland - it's all about how sensitive RL is, and given the entire appointment of AM at the start, one gets the impression that RL is either unaware or doesn't care.
I was chatting to an American last week over here in business. I was telling him how I was frustrated with Villa and as soon as I mentioned Cleveland browns he completely understood and offered sympathy.
I don't want to see Villa stay up if it means AM staying with Villa and wasting the proceeds of Bents sale in more Huttons.
But the alternative is the championship with - McLeish ...
I have never felt so despondent about Villa ever before
