Yeah, for me the service I had last week improved the problem no end. As soccerlol says, out of the showroom, the first few rides will probably stretch the new gear cables, even on the full Shimano 105, which is also what I have.
I'm sure this is something that is easily done DIY, but as my service was complimentary, then why not let the professionals sort it?

Yes I had my free service and the gears now shift properly. Good thing they did I just came back from Paris after me and some colleagues finished a 24hr London2paris bike ride.

Free service My LBS offers that for lifetime as well but I bought my bike secondhand As long as they don't know though

Either way, glad to hear the tuneup smoothed things out. How is bike culture over there? Are drivers courteous.. is the sport prevalent etc etc

Cycling in France is everything I thought it would be. They have better roads, are so much more accomodating to cyclists to the extent they risk themselves with oncoming traffic when overtaking. No one beeper unless it was encouragement but then we did look like a proper team with matching kits!

Wow, sounds great. I think I have to figure out a way to get me and my bike over there some time.

By law, cyclists here are allowed space on the street but a lot of drivers don't know that and they can get a bit aggravated/aggressive. No fun sometimes

Oh and here is America. Some places in the US have a more developed bike culture though which makes drivers more accommodating. I'm not that fortunate though

I'm sure if u lived in Texas Austin you would be loved as that's where lances breeding ground is.

Anywhere a bit metropolitan and less culturally backwards would help

There are sometimes some vigils and sorts. There was a sit in demo against a taxi company a few weeks ago.

Did you see the clip of the brazilian CM that was bulldozed by a mad guy in his golf? Absolutely crazy!

I think I know which one you're talking about.. bikes flying everywhere!

I've got a helmet now though and clips like that are a reminder that I should actually wear it
