The bhoy Izzy got off to flyer in Scottish fitba' and for two thirds of the season was a star turn.
Teams just couldn't handle him bombing forward - we're not used to that kind of thing in Scotland.
However, it soon emerged (taking Walter's lead) that if teams set-up to thwart his attacking play, the boy is nowt more than a thoroughly average defender. Actually, he's a bit of a liability at the back. Big Laff ran him ragged in the league cup final ffs.
With this in mind, I'm expecting him to play far less of an attacking role for Celtic this season, and as a consequence I don't think he'll be receiving the same plaudits he did last season.
You can expect the joke transfer value figures being thrown around to disappear.
One. Season. Wonder.
Mark. My. Words.
Izzy - one season wonder.

his cross was simple enough
Jelavic gave the ball to him on the halfway line as we were attacking and he strolled forward and crossed in and the defence could not get back in time
it was hardly world class was it?
i would take him at Ibrox ovcourse
play him infront of Papac as we are desperate for a left winger

According to the Rangers Fans Big Forster was mince, Big Dan was a joke, Chuck was rubbish and Wilson not up to standard and now Izzy is a one season wonder. Funny how they kept the most clean sheets ever then. Raging Rankers are funny

Got to admit, you are right both old firm fans,over-rate their players.

Pollocks - you're talking nonsense. His cross was simple enough? Ok, but footballs simple. What Barca do is simple, its just the perfect execution of something so simple that makes it quality.

davie i seen far better exapmles of good play from izzaguire than that cross
was just saying it was nothing special
he didn't beat 5 players then swing one on
davie if he really was a high quality crosser of the ball he would have been providing goals all season

You're like a wum mixed in with a guy who wants to talk football.
I wouldnt say he's a high quality crosser of the ball but he's got a very good delivery. We're used to Naylor firing them into the stand remember.
I think if we maybe had a big striker who was a little mobile and could head a ball(thats Samaras and Murphy crossed off) then I reckon he wouldve had more assists.
Anyway, how many assists and goals is a quality LB supposed to get? You're looking for him to get down the outside and create chances and Izzy does this. Better than I've ever seen anyone do it at Celtic.
TBH I'm just happy we've finally addressed the LB problem, although I am aware that we tend to lose more goals from his side as opposed to Wilsons

Not a WUM at all.
I think the signs were there towards the end of the season. Teams naturally learned how to play him. That's going to continue this season.
I think it's fair comment that he's not very comfortable defending.
But judgning by the vast majority of comments on here from celtic fans, the consensus among you seems to be he's virtually flawless.
No chance of adult debate with the brainwashed and deluded.

He aint the best defender but not comfortable defending? I take it you havent seen the amount of times he's turned a man inside out at his own corner flag? Or when he does make a mistake how quickly he rectifies it by winning the ball back? He was part of the best defence in SPL history, I think its fair to say he's comfortable defending.
I am aware we lose more goals down his side than the right but I am also aware what we ask our full backs to do, cover every inch of the touch line. With that comes the certainty that he will be caught up the pitch and out of position, but we cant ask for the former without accepting the latter.
Compared to other Celtic LBs over the last few years he is flawless.
And I think you threw out the chance of an adult debate when you resorted to namecalling.

I can't understand people, including some Celtic fans saying he is poor at defending. I think he is great at defending.
He's made a couple of mistakes, as has any player. This chat about him being q poor defender is nonsense.
