Let`s get this right.

Chelsea are apparently after either Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola. But if Chelsea do not qualify for the CL, those sort of managers would not go anywhere near the club would they without CL footie? And talk of players like Ronaldo and Messi following them to the Bridge has to be pure and utter nonsense.

The sort of prices Chelsea would need to pay for those sort of managers and players would surely make them the first victims of the Financial regulations that will shortly be kicking in. Gone are the days when a club can throw £300 million at a project to buy trophies. Even Abramovich must realise that.

So why do Chelsea think they can still attract the cream if they are not in the CL. Mourinho and Ronaldo do not need the money now, and no way would they want Thursday night football, they are only interested in CL, so I reckon it is a complete non starter, and could be the start of a painful Chelsea decline.

Interesting to watch the developments over at the Bridge. The 1,000 years of domination has not quite happened has it.
