Hi Bolton Fans
So we (Leeds United) have just signed your LB Paul Robinson, not many on our board have seen much of him, what should we expect? How come he hasn't been playing of late? He did start earlier on in the season?
Any info would be appreciated thanks
Paul Robinson?

Apologies, Robbo played 90 mins against Sunderland, but he gave the first goal away...
If you dont remember, had a free header from a corner to clear, and played it across the face of goal, the ball came back to Sessegnon, and Robbo took an age to move to block him, by the time he did, he had scored...poor.

Robbo was not 'terrific' last season, he had a few decent games was protected by a decent midfield. He was always way out of his depth in The Prem.
Although he is a player who 'wears his heart on his sleeve, is a real ankle biter in the tackle, and has a real will to win', don't expect a great deal in the competent, intelligent defender department.

Robbo 38 in 17 =2.25 goals per game
Ricketts 15 in 9 = 1.66 goals per game
Alonso 2 in 2 = 1 goal per game
Look at a difference taking 1 player out did to the defence

He came 3rd in the supporters official vote for player of the year.

The new rules regarding putting an end to tackling the way he normally would has meant he's been ineffective this season as apposed to last where his first challenge would've seen the ball, player and crowd up in the air.
From this season we require a different type of full back to what Robbo is.

Robbo has pace to spare but is a bit too of a nancy boy for me, never gets stuck in.
Needs to start shouting and communicating with his defenders and putting in a shift. Usually see him just strolling around the field having a chat to our Bulgarian Maestro about afternoon tea and scones with the old ladies ...
Apart from that, pretty much average ...

And that means he was terrific does it?
Maybe it means a lot of fans who vote in these polls like old fashioned take-the-lot defenders?

Polls prove nothing, madnotlobian. It means your claim that he "wasn't terrific at all" last season is at odds with the majority of people who voted in the poll, and a bit strange overall.
It could mean, as you say, that fans who vote in these polls like old fashioned take-the-lot defenders, but then again, it could mean that Robinson had a better season than you personally think.
I just wanted to give the Leeds poster my personal opinion, and seeing as you rubbished it, I thought it would be fair to point out you're probably of a minority view. We could all be wrong though, and you right.

Poor this season. Too slow, ineffective, looking to blame others for his mistakes.
However, last season, he was a good, solid fullback who gave everything he could for the team.
Think he'll do a decent job once he drops down a level and gets some confidence back. Wish him the best of luck, may not be the best player, but can't fault his workrate.
