Junior Genius

Whatever happens we must keep our exciting young players it is vital that we don't sell all of our precocious talent. With Jones already gone we must hold on to Hoilett. We went through all that effort to keep him all of that time and he almost kept us up on his own towards the end of the season with vital goals in many key games. Give him a bloody good offer!

Any thoughts on the transfer speculation? What about Robbie Keane you think he is past is already? He certainly is not worth £5 mill! I'm not sure he has played at the highest level for years now, I still think he can score a few and would rather have him than Benjani. I was hoping for some more exciting news than this, however I would like to see us sign someone like this Cisse fella.

Completely agree with you about Hoilett but I would never want Keane at Rovers. Hopefully reports from Spurs saying he won't go cheap will mean we'll look at better players than him.

Adebayor is not an option any more.

I think we are going to have major problems attracting top players unless we offer them silly wages, then the trouble really starts (e.g Portsmouth)

Watching Keane making his substitutes appearances at West Ham he seems to have lost his goal scoring touch or definitely some of his composure. He is half the striker he was two seasons ago

I don't think you can base that on one performance every striker can get rusty without a run in the side. Ba got a hatful of goals for the hammers at the end of the season that would have kept any player out of the side. I would have rather taken him on a free but the Geordies nabbed him. He is still class has scored 51 goals at international level and would be an improvement on Roberts or Benjani who manage about 2 a season between them!

I would only take him on cheap deal really otherwise sack it off. We need someone like Sturridge but I think we are dreaming of that one. I am getting frustrated as I don't see Kean being able to attract any big names. The jury is still out. I suppose nobody can be bothered to post on here compared to the old 606 where the funk are you all?!

I think Keane could be a good player for us - potentially paired with Kalinic as I don't think Keane is a frontline striker any more but a support striker. However that would depend upon keeping Kalinic I guess with Roberts as an impact sub. Benjani as a backup is not too bad I guess. But, like you said, £2-3m max for someone who is fading fast.

I think the issue is that there is nothing to comment on beyond x player turning us down in the press/rumours. No movement on Kean, no indication of how the signings (if any) will go. The Samba rumblings have been exactly the same - there but not final. Just nothing of interest really. Pro and anti-Keaners can largely agree on that.

Kean would be a very good signing at 2-3 million if proven fully fit and recovered from injury. Anything above that I say don't bother, but I have read that Spurs want around 6 million so we shall have to see.

People are on holiday and also glad of the break from the forums as they get their lives back on track! The sun is shining and the sky is blue and I guess the forums will remain quiet until there is something to talk about again. Also, the first 3-4 weeks after the end of the season sees football go into limbo as all and sundry go away.

I am glad we are not currently bombarded with incessant transfer speculation, but that will surely start shortly.

Oh and on topic and to get the replies up....I think it is vital we keep the vast majority of our squad together, so any new players can join seemlessly into an established group. That includes Samba if possible and definately Junior who was a breath of fresh air.
