What is it with the 8-1-1 formation?

Just wanted to discuss our game against Leicester on Tuesday.

Don’t get me wrong it was a very enjoyable game and i was on the edge of my seat throughout and was relived to end the poor form we have been in of late.

So,

We go 1-0 down, and this the result of a lack of concentration.

We the come back to 1-1 which we did deserve.

Then we score to go ahead 2-1 and all hell breaks loose and there is me and my Dad shouting at the top of our voices to push up!

Why the hell after we score do we adopt this stupid defensive tactic? We put all our players on the edge of the 18 yard box and just hold the god damn line for the rest of the game!

Just getting swarmed and played of the park, and when we finally do get the ball we hoof it up the field to nobody apart from a Leicester defender who happily wanders back up the field and has enough time to place the ball back into the box.

Entertainment wise, it puts me right on edge. But I’m sorry weather we are hoping for a counter attack or whatever. McInnes should be shouting his head off for the lads to keep their formation. For the last 5 minutes I understand why you may adapt a very defensive formation, but watching a couple of seasons ago when we drew 1-1 constantly after conceding when we adopt this stupid panicky formation when we try and defend our lead you cant do it for 30 minutes!!!

We can’t counter attack for our lives, Wood received the ball and was practically 1 on 1 with their keeper and blasted it far away from goal. We loose composure and are too scared to break out incase Cisse passes the ball to one of their players (bit harsh :P)

We should just keep the formation and adopt the strategy:

The best form of defence is attack.

We could have put a couple more goals into them, if we hadn't done the stupid 8-1-1 formation.
