Levy's Programme Notes

Can be seen on the official site (http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/articles/chairmans-message-220511.html) and it includes the following:

" I can assure you that we have no reason to sell, and every intention of retaining, our key players. We shall simply not entertain any approaches for these players.

We do, however, currently have one of the largest squads in the Premier League and, given the 25 man squad rule, it is no longer practical to retain players who are unlikely to qualify within that limit. We shall, therefore, look to reduce the number of these players during the coming summer transfer window in order to operate both effectively and efficiently."

If only it were that simple though mate. If a players is tapped up and says he wants to leave its very hard to keep him. Its one thing I do admire Wenger for is his holding on to Fabregas.

mh - I agree. I just wished to share the information.

Players need a reason to stay - it's down to Reknapp and Levy to give players those reasons.

Thats so true, we need to show the ambition that I hope the players have

Messia

We knew well before Berba ect left as the agents use the media to expedite moves...As yet all the noises coming out of WHL regarding Mods , Bale and our other top guys have been that they are happy and want to stay so if you combine this with the new debt rules then I'm happy that we will keep them all and just try to get shot of the Keanes and Bentleys (which TBH will be hard) and I believe that's what Levy is getting at

I know that many of we Spurs fans think that we do support the best team however the reality is that there are clubs out there that are better - some might have a bigger ground (more paying spectators),some might have more money (be it Russian, Arab, American or Indian), some might have a player or two that we might covert.

I was proud that we secured 4th last season and in how we played in Europe.

I was embarrassed in the way we performed in the CC and FA Cup.

The league was a like a roller coaster ride however - but it was a roller coaster ride that I would not wish to take again.

I believe that the club let itself down in not finishing 4th. It is wrong to put all of the blame on to one individual as THFC is a club and all parts of it should have stepped up to the mark and recognised the need to give that little bit more.

A win today gives us European football again. I was too young to watch Spurs be the first English club to win a European trophy back in '63 however I was there in '72 to watch Spurs lift their 2nd European trophy - and in doing so be the first English club to be the winners of 2 different European trophies. I would love to be able to watch them win their 3rd - the Europa Cup.

Should they do so Spurs would become;
The first English club to have won a European trophy (Uefa Cup Winners Cup)
The first English club to have won the Uefa Cup
The first English club to have won the Europa Cup
