Tonights game didn't just look bad for United, it looked bad for the whole of the Premiership.
At home against a side 5th in la liga, United couldn't control the game at all. Bilbao were better in possession and used it well, kind of like a mini-Barcelona. This style of play is the current flavour of the month, and supposedly will make kick and rush obsolete. Whilst Uniteds defending was poor, it is the inability of the whole side to dictate the game that is most worrying.
Yet United are on course to reach 90 points in the Premiership, in the Premiership they clearly don't face many teams that can use the ball effectively. Why hasn't the Premierships style moved on?
If this continues, the Premiership is in for many more bad seasons in Europe like this one.
What's wrong with the Premiership?

We won 5 away games last season and won the title.....what does that say about the quality of this league?

If anything, that statement says the Premier Legaue is strong
But obviously, the Premier league teams arent as strong as they were a few seasons back. Having said that, I still expect the Premier League teams to be the mosty likely winners of the CL outside of Barca/Real for the next few years.
The italian league is still poor, german league worse and french league shocking.
United/Arsenal have young teams that will improve. City/Chelsea have money to spend. Tottenham are on the up. Won't be long before our teams are back amogst it

The truth is that the sky funded pl is bad for English football, bad for English clubs and also bad for the English national team - cue the Scottish football is a mickey mouse pub league retorts but this isn't a dig at England just an honest observation.
Disaster is just around the corner for a lot of English clubs.

hoops next you will be telling us that the TV deals they have setup in Spain are bad for Barca and Madrid, overspending is a problem receiving more money is not and frankly reading you comment I can only assume finances are a complete mystery to you...
It is only really La Liga that can be said to be ahead of the Premiership, that league has problems as well with its huge difference between the top two and everyone else. As that evens up La Liga will end up closer to how the Premiership is with much stronger CL (but not title challenging) clubs in exchange for slightly weaker title challenging teams.

English clubs are getting millions and millions from sky but most are still heavily in debt, Portsmouth are on the brink so are Birmingham. The Bosman ruling and sky TV are destroying football.

So the sky funded pl is bad because two clubs who are struggling (but would probably be okay if still getting PL rates) in the championship?
I think you are a very confused and angry young man, I don't know what the English did to make you this way but on their behalf I apologise.

watch schalke 04 vs man utd last year away. That showed how well we can play at the top. This schalke 04 team thrashed inter the holders 7-3 on aggregate and we thrashed schalke 04 6-1 on aggregat even resting players in 2nd leg and winning 4-1.
Some reason in europe it hasn't gone for us and we seem to have given up. Our cl performances were far better. Europa league man utd look like conserving energy. I reckon in the europa league we have barely movedup and down the putch. It willl be interestiing to see how far the team ran in km vs our cl games. In the cl poor finishing and giving gifts cost us. Europa league though it seems at home we can't be bothered. Maybe we need to concede first in the Europa league.
Anyway man utd are the 2nd best side in europe so expect us to win the europa league and if barca do become the first side to defend the cl crown man utd came so close as if iniesta had not scored I would have fancied us but with fletcher suspension I lost all hope before rome especially with there 2 defenders who can't defend that well that left chelsea space not playing.
You don't become the top ranked team over a certain period by uefa coefficient last year with one of the higest points in ages by being rubbish.
All teams have off years.
Man utd 2006-2007 semi-finalists 07-08 cl winners undefeated beating barca in semi-final 08-09 cl unbeaten run to final to only lose to barca 09-10 sending off and late goals conceded in first leg and 2nd leg 1st half cost us big time and we lose on away goals. 2010-2011 cl we couldn't stop winning I believe we won 5 consecutive games before losing to barca in the final. Normally teams struggle to do enough to go through we won the sem easily beat chelsea home and away and beat marseille at home.
If any team deserves to have a bad season in europe its man utd. Man utd have been trying to carry the premiership england flag by themselves but as we all know barca play on another level especially in finals.

Hajifur, united are not the second best team in Europe.
You have several clubs "one in this country even" with more European trophies, so stop lying.
The only thing united are the best at is selling shirts in far flung countries.

Second best in Europe,
That's a peach of a comment, there are definately two in Spain that are on a different level even three after last nights showing. Bayern are also better, Napoli would give you a game, although you beat Ajax (just) that game showed that you being in the elite of European standings is on the rapid decline.

I'd guess our problems were mostly due to fact we had 19 year old central defender and 38 year old left winger in central midfield !!
