Do you think Fergie could not be looking for another central midfielder.
I know half of the fans on here feel it is critical we recruit a sneijder, modric or nasri type player but could Fergie be planning more for the future?
With Scholes retiring, Hargreaves being released and Gibson looking like he's leaving it frees up a lot of opportunities for the younger players to cement a first team role or at least a decent squad position.
If we do not sign any more midfielders and promote the youth then we will have a midfield squad looking something like this:

Anderson
Carrick
Pogba
Morrisson
Cleverley
Giggs
Nani
Valencia
Park
Young
Fletcher
Tunnicliffe
Da Silva twins (when needed)
Jones (when needed)
Welbeck (again when needed)

I know its an unpopular opinion but I would not be entirely unhappy for us to just have this squad. Its not beyond the realms of possibility that this could happen. United have always had an ethos of promoting youth and maybe it could be a repeat of previous generations. The current crop of youth attached to the club are extremely promising and have the potential to be world class given the opportunities. I think that by mixing these players with the experienced players like Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs, Park and Anderson then it could be the perfect balance. Yes it may not be as experienced as some would like but with arguably the best defence in the league and world class strikers in Rooney, Hernandez and Berba then they will have strong foundations to fall back on when they make the inevitable mistake or two. And don't forget they'll be getting Scholes' wealth of experience via coaching.
Don't get me wrong i would love to have a proven quality international midfielder signed especially someone like De Rossi but would it be the end of the world if we didn't?
We have a chance to create a group of players that will play together for the next 10 years building and understanding and dominating at home and in europe!
