Expect the same next week. Whether Hill has the Belly ache or not, same result as today will be on the cards. This is getting bad.

time to get some defenders in far too many midfielders if we car'nt get defenders get a brickie to brick up the goals then at least we'll get a point

It's Hill who needs a reality check, instead of playing up for the media and alienating supporters it's time he attended to matters on the field. Still we may make a couple of quid profit this season it will help in League one.

If we ended up in League One with the position we are in at the min, well that would be humiliating.

More chance of Plankton or Uboat contributing something intelligent...

People have to remember that we were up against the best team in the division by a mile.
We actually started the game really well, and if our wingers had looked up and played a few passes early then Davies/Done would've been in one on one. They didn't, and all it took for Southampton to take the lead was a simple knock down and finish from their first real attack of the game, and thats where our quality of player differs from theres, they actually had players who were willing to play the ball early, run into space, and shoot first time instead of faffing about on the edge of the box or playing the wrong ball.
Adkins had obviously given them a rollicking at half time and they came out and totally bossed every area of the pitch, and with the quality of players we have we just couldn't cope with their premiership-standard football. Not too disappointed with the performance except for the second goal, which was a total shambles (and obviously the 4 hour trip journey and back). I'm willing to write this result off, but our lack of goals and attacking intent in the games before is becoming worrying, as well as the complimentary couple of goals we seem to have been giving out every game since Christmas. We still won't go down, but it'd be nice to finish the season strongly for once, and unfortunately I just can't see us winning many more this year.

Thanks for the update James, I couldn't make it down on Sat due to the fact that the missuis has struck up a deal that I go to home games and most away games are treated as time I can spend with my family (Give or take the odd game). I have read a few match repots but they all had conflicting info, the only thing they did agree on was that we were pretty toothless in attack.

And they're correct. In the first half when we had more of the ball Cotterill and Nouble were willing to take players on and actually put a couple of dangerous crosses in, but in the second we reverted to the tactic we've been using in the last 5 or 6 games, that being passing the ball out wide to McEveley, who would then attempt to pass it over the opposition full-back for our winger to run on to. It worked once and we almost won a penalty from it, but apart from that it simply doesn't work and I really don't know why we keep doing it, as well as playing one up front.
Granted our squad has been decimated and our quality players injured or sold, but Hillcroft have to realise we're going nowhere with such negative tactics. Its been said before but I'd much rather we went out and tried to win and lose 5-2 than sit back, with Davies/Gray lonely up front, and lose 1-0/2-0. Our defence is never going to be able to keep clean sheets so we may as well just go out and attack the bejesus out of the opposition and hopefully score more than we will inevitably concede. As I said before, we've already done enough to stay up but I can't see us doing any more than that. Looking at our remaining fixtures I can only see us realistically (the way we're playing as the moment) being able to beat Peterborough at home and Bristol city away. As for our next two games, one against the form team in the country, and the next at somewhere we've not won in about 278 years, a point against each would be a great achievement.
Sorry for another essay.

No need to be sorry for the essay James, I enjoy seeing something to read on here and sometimes wish we had someone that would write match reports up on here.
As for the next two games I know it seems a tall ask for us to get anything from either Reading or Crystal Palace but stranger things have happened before.
