Maghoma to Sign Up...

...for two years, apparently.

Story on the Burton Mail website and it is great news if true.

I totally agree and i hope Mr Zola comes back with a new perspective after a lengthy training session where he learns all about first touches from Greg Pearson

deepsigh - I would like to adjust my last post slightly (on the subject of Maghoma). You are right. He did graft in the last dozen games and I noticed it too. I was going to say it in my last post too but I decided to ignore it because for most of the time at the club he has not grafted very hard.

Credit where credit is due. He did graft in those dozen games and he was a lot better last season than his first too.

I am still of the mind that;

a) He has been disrespectful by not stating what his plans are. Pesch thought he had gone. The likes of Ronnie, Macca and Jamo signed instantly.

b) He thought that he would get a deal elsewhere and it did not happen.

With respect it also smacks of bad management. Peschisolido evidently signed up his replacement without ever getting confirmation that Maghoma was leaving in the first place.

It just reinforces my view on how team affairs are being run.

I read in the local paper Mags says he wants to play in a more central role. Sorry i question his toughness for this position and i retract nothing from my previous comments gentlemen,i still think his end product and workrate are in question. HOPE HE PROVES ME WRONG !!!!!

Otep I see where you're coming from, but ultimately its up to the player to look after his own best interests as legzy has done.
I dont remember his ever saying "Im off".
It was an assumption on the part of the management that he would go abroad, which reinforces WB's point.

Neverther the less, He's signed and is our player lets move forward and wish him the best

COME ON YOU BREWWWERS !!!

ps Its good to have all this debate before the training starts!!

I also wondered with the Maghoma saga if one could level any criticism at the management.

There have been a few player-manager incidents in the last year which have left me a bit perplexed.

a) Pesch said Collins was about to be signed. Next minute he was at Shrewsbury.

b) Shaun Harrad goes to a club one place above us in the league.

c) Russ Penn goes to Cheltenham who are no better than us.

d) I'm sure that Pesch said he didn't know what Lego's plans are a few weeks ago.

e) And now this Maghoma nonsense.

I like you Otep have wondered about Pesc abillity to motivate and assemble a side to challenge for the top half of the league. But i will back our chairman in his decision to give Pesc another season. The club is operating under tight restraints money wise as it has to be.Having read your posts which are excellent and promote debate you like me are devoted to the football club and we dont want to see it do a Rushden an Diamonds do we. ???

Thanks Emnez. The club is well run but what worries me about the Chairman is his loyalty. Whilst it can be a commendable human trait it can also be a negative if it is mis-placed - particularly in the football business.

I still wake up screaming about the Roy McFarland tenure.

We stayed up in spite of Pesch - not because of him.

The Chairman was very bullish once the 46th game had been played. He stated that he would not accept that rubbish again (or words to that effect). I hope he is true to his word.

You are only as good as your last game. In our last game we were outplayed by the second team of Accrington Stanley.

I can assure you Otep the loyalty will only last so long , the chairman is a very shrewd man and i know that first hand.My father was a lot older than him and was a good friend of his. There was much respect on how both ran there companies and he always had a lot of time for Mr Robinson. If things dont improve you will see the ruthless side of a very nice gentleman.

Forgot to add i believe the Macfarland apointment was instigated by Nigel Cloughs recommendation and yes my friend it was nearly a disaster,i think we all were carrying andrex with us that last game.
