I was wondering if any of you remember some of our Scottish players from the past? Some better than others - In recent years they have not been so great. Mackay, Robertson, Gilzean, Duncan, Durie, Calderwood, Archibald, Conn, Young, Hutton etc. Some were quality in those days weren't they? With the Scottish Leagues as they are you could not imagine buying anyone in the mould of Gilzean, Archibald or Conn (I believe he scored a hat trick in his first game) now.
Also, remembering how we got Roberts from non-league football. What a player he turned out to be! Would any top club team do that now?

Archibald is my biggest memory of a scotish player
Him and crooks up front.. wish we had that today
Heard he caused problems in the dressing room though near the end of his time with us
Team split up when they were on the verge of becoming really good, could happen again now with todays players

maybe a good dressing room dust up is what we need.
someone needs to bring bale down a peg or fifty.
my vote is that younes is the man to sort him out.

The folklore was that he and Burkinshaw were barely on speaking terms. But the manager picked him regardless, and Archibald still delivered.
Back on topic :
Richard Gough.
Really thought the Roberts/Gough partnership was the missing piece of the Spurs title challenge in 1986. Then he was sold to Rangers, and Gough got homesick within one season.

You missed out Bill Brown our goalie and John White when we won the double. White was struck by lightning and Bill Nicholson(Old Stoneface as he was known) cried.

Dave Mackay was our greatest ever player in my opinion. The late great Johhny White was fantastic and only 24 when sadly killed. Bill Brown and Gilzean were brilliant as well.

Oh for a Crooks and Arcibald type partnership up front again or a Clive Allen

It was acceptable in the 80s. It was acceptable at the time.
I got striker names for you, if you were Spurs in the 80s.
