Perfect weekend for us! Really didn't see City slipping up today, and they certainly have the tougher of the remaining fixtures!
A draw at the Etihad and I think the title is ours!
Quick player ratings:
De Gea: 7.5 - Not tested much but made two quality saves.
Jones: 7.5 - Passing a bit sloppy but defended and attacked well,
Evans: 8 - Didn't put a foot wrong all game.
Rio: 7 - Solid game.
Evra 7.5 - Looking back to his old self, although defensively a bit off still.
Welbeck 7 - Some lovely touches first half but finishing a bit off.
Scholes 7 - Couple of sloppy passes but kept the tempo flowing nicely.
Carrick 7 - Pretty average game, some neat passes/touches though.
Young 8.5 - Really impressed me, beat the fullback plenty of times and should have had a couple of assists if finishing had been better. MOTM.
Rooney 7 - Scored 2 goals but didn't really play at his best.... great penalty!
Chico 6 - His all round game is improving but with better finishing could have had a hat trick today, not his best.
UUUUUNNNNNIIIIIITTTTTEEEEDDD!!!
Great set of results!

I thought Evans was MOTM a brilliant performance overall. Young was very dangerous as well.
Good to see Rooney scoring for fun again.

Yeah, I have to admit I used to get frustrated with Evans, but the last two seasons he has been great for us! He could certainly play a very important role in the core of our defense for a few years at least! Hopefully the young bashers will hush now after two quality performances from the lad!

I think we can all agree it's been a good day for football.

ferguson said in his programme notes, "many of you wanted me to move on evans in the summer; i hope you are now questioning that judgement". and yet again, he's been proven right.

At the end of last season, Evans played all accross the backline at some point (I think he played LB in the second leg against Schalke?). At that point, I thought he'd be our long-term successor to O'Shea.
He's been brilliant at CB lately, certainly staking his claim for the future.

i noticed today how confident and composed he now looks on the ball as well. just goes to show what a consistent run in the team can do for a player.
