Have the Arsenal board and management pulled a good bluff?Does anybody really know what price was put on Fabregas by Arsenal.its obviously not the 35-40 million being brandied about in the press, its more than that.
Stan and Ivan are business man, they are not stupid. If Cesc goes for 35 million the world will laugh at the Arsenal CEO because everyone knows he is worth more than that in the current market.Fact of the matter is that the senior Arsenal employee who leaked that the club are willing to sell for the right price might have done that deliberately so that we get rid of the impression that we are holding Cesc against his will.
At the end of the season a lot of people were resigned to the possibility of Cesc leaving and a number of bitter fans started pretending we would be better without him and spewing hate on his twitter account after the Barcelona grand prix debacle. how can we be better without him, it was proved to be false when Viera and Henry left, its just madness, you don’t get better by selling a world class player.
Reading Arseblog this morning made me realize that unless Barca pay what the Arsenal board have placed as the price for Cesc he will not leave and more and more Arsenal fans would rather have an unhappy Cesc than selling him for that quite stupid 27 million offer that Barca put forward.
I think the board and Wenger have taken a stance that they would rather keep an unhappy Cesc than sell him for peanuts the way Viera and Henry left.
I said it in an article last week that we had this situation with Viera for 3 seasons until David Dein drove him to the airport and flogged him to Juventus after he had turned down real Madrid twice.
Cesc will be an arsenal player this season, Clichy will leave and Nasri will leave on a free next season if we don’t win trophies.
Cesc might not leave this season

He will leave for £35m plus add-ons which will increase close to £40m. I think wenger just wants to get the money and move on, this saga is a yearly distraction for us and it's better we get it wrapped up now. Plus do you think we will get more money next year? doubt it.

Cesc will leave with no slight doubt. Nasri will stay and leave next season on a free. As far as Clichy concerned, I am not sure.

I agree with Hello...Vermaelen, Cesc can, and will, go for the right price - and he can take Nasri with him too if all he wants is more money, stuff him. The club was fine before them and will be fine after them. They are not irreplaceable. It's a shame, they are both great players, but I don't want my club held to ransom by a couple of stroppy kids.
