What Question Would You Ask Ken Bates

I'd ask him if he finds it irritating when the juice from baked beans gets stuck in his beard ..............

In truth, I've sat in the boardroom with him, i had the chance to grill him. Instead i tucked into the food, drank the (free) beer and generally had a laugh with his missus (who's really nice).

That was 4 years ago before the crowd really turned as elements appeared to have now. Were i too get the same opportunity again (highly unlikely), then i'd certainly quiz him on pricing.

What i did get from the visit and the invitation was the impression that other members of the board are seemingly loud mouth baffoons .....

It was just my first impression of course - but if it were mine, maybe others who deal with them leave feeling the same............

Flying over to Miami I met a chef he frequently employs when taking to the waters in a boat. The guy's a British born, but now American resident. His personal take of him was of an amiable and likeable person who was more than happy to sit and have a chat with him, but also an impatient and demanding man - he was 100% in agreeance that he's a hard nosed business nut who wouldn't put a football/soccer club above his personal money making interests. In his words - "he an addict" and predicts Ken Bates will die our Chairman.....

So there you go.

I too met Bates about 4 years ago, To tell you the through the chairman spoke to me out of the side of his mouth,
I couldn't tell a word he said most of the time and yes his wife was most charming. At the time I didn't have the same views I have now but I did ask him about ticket prices. He told me not to be so wet, I must admit at the time I just smiled, that's when his wife took over with the charm.

Why?

He's an awfully pleasant chap.

I would ask him one question, which, depending on his answer, may lead to other questions

"What is your plan for Leeds United?"

I have little interest in the past, I want to hear about the future.

Who owns TA & ER?
