Dont know how true this story is but Sky Italia are saying that zola will be appointed as chelsea's director of football on friday...

The points you raise highlight my point entirely, it is not an attack on Zola but more about the naivity of Zola regarding the people that he was working for - you obviously do not get the point i am trying to make.

This perception that Zola is too nice, is a complete and utter myth.
You don't become as successful as he was without having a mean and competitive streak in you.
West Ham underestimated Zola and what he achieved big time.
They had one of the best young coaching partnerships any team could hope for in Clarke and Zola but the idiots in charge of the club thought they knew better.
Now they are paying the price and i feel sorry for genuine West Ham fans, because they would be a top 10 team with those two still in charge.

I agree with Biggish.
This idea that Zola is too nice is a complete and utter myth.
Yes he´s a nice guy I´m sure but don´t confuse that with weakness.
As Biggish said Zola has an extremely competitive streak in him and you don´t get to where Zola has got to by being a doormat.
Zola would be a great ambassador for Chelsea football club and it would be an honour to have Zola as DOF.
