Lionel Messi - Enough Said

The most complete footballer and one of the best in my time has spoken..

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17383728

Barcelona's Lionel Messi says strikers Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are the Premier League's three best players.
The Argentine said: "There are several quality players in the Premier League like Kun Aguero, who is my friend. I really like how he plays.
"Rooney [and] Van Persie are playing really well - they are great players."

Rooney is definitely the White Pele now!

Thoughts?

Wayne Rooney is the English John Toshack. We all agree? Yes? Ok, good.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I think I misunderstood what you were saying, sorry dude .

If the top bracket of players is Pele and Maradona.

And the second bracket is Cruyff, Zidane, Van Basten, Di Stefano etc.

Where do you think Messi currently sits and where do you think he will sit if his career continues to progress in this manner? Don't forget he's 24...
------------------------------------------

If he can continue at this level for another 5-7 years then I would say he has been the best ever. That said I am only 32 so can I really give a fair opinion? I'd also like to see him do something with his country.

I think it's a fair point to say nobody on this forum has seen the likes of Pele, Maradona, Messi, Cruyff, Best, Di Stefano, and many more, on tv, let alone in person to make a fair judgement.

Saying that, how players like Zizou, Cruyff and Di Stefano are considered in the 'second tier' of players is beyond me.

Basically I think you can only judge a player in his generation.

we could do with having messi now. Imagine if we had him for last 20 minutes, he probably would have scored 2 or 3 goals by now but instead we have bozos like young and giggs attacking with rooney park

Last time Messi faced Athletic, he was surprisingly quite, a bit too quiet for his standards and yet he scored one of the luckiest goals in his career.

I partly agree. How people can consider talent like Di Stefano or Zizou (not convinced on Cryuff) to be second-tier is silly.

As for not seeing people like Maradona and co on telly? That is just silly. This is not a forum of prepubescent kids. I watched Maradona in life and on TV many times and many on the so called list.
