Another excellent performance from him last night. I know Fergie has been a long time admirer and we've been linked with him a few times before but if we get rid of Berbatov, would Huntelaar be a good replacement?
I was impressed with his play in the short time he was on in the England vs Holland game and was gutted when he went off as I wanted to see more than him.
Could we tempt him away from Germany for a decent price?
Could we make him a regular first team choice without upsetting Chich and Wellbeck? Could he work playing just in front of Rooney?
I think his heading ability would suit as as Young and Valencia can deliver. However, Chich and Wellbeck are also good in the air and with balls coming in from wide areas.
I'd like to see him come to us, I think he'd do well at United.
At the same time though, I want to see Wellbeck and Chich get the chances although I see him more as a Solksjaer figure providing impact from the bench.

We bought Berbatov for more and he was around the same age.
So I disagree. We may have a "policy" apparent from recent signings but we do break the bank for players who are older and are wanted.

We don't need a bloody STRIKER !!! Jesus wept!
We are BADLY in need of 2-3 midfielders. Scholes and Giggs are nearing the end. Anderson is a complete liability. Fletcher has this illness that won't go away and Park is finished.
Pogba and Cleverley have great potential but aren't quite there yet. But it will come. Not saying they will ever be world beaters but you can see that the potential is there.
We need to sign a world class no nonsense DM like M'Vila or Martinez and also a creative player like Hazard, Goetze or Eriksen. Basically a midfielder who can keep possession under intense pressure and unlock defences. We don't have one anymore.
Change the formation to 4-3-3 and get with the times.

And despite him not really cutting it at Milan or Madrid, his career goals to games ratio is much better than Berbatov's. He only had 50 games at those two clubs and scored 15 goals.

Berbatov was more an exception to the rule, than the rule itself.
Plus he had the added bonus of having established himself in England for 2 years (although Fernando Torres has shown that this makes little difference).

I agree we need a couple of decent midfielders. But I disagree in that we do need another decent, experienced striker to replace Berbatov and Owen.
If Rooney is out, we struggle. Not saying we should buy Huntelaar for that reason alone but that would give us our 4 decent strikers which I think is what's needed to remain at the top.

If we bring in a striker following the likely departure of Owen and Berbatov, I'd like him to be an all-round footballer, not just a finisher. We have Hernandez and Welbeck who are both going to be very good in the 'spearhead' centre forward role. I think in the coming years we are going to need more players who are comfortable playing across the front line, interchanging positions, etc.
In fact, as someone who likes the idea of moving to a more fluid 4-3-3, I wouldn't be absolutely sure I'd want to replace the outgoing strikers. If we went to 4-3-3 we'd have the current strikers and wingers competing for one fewer spot in the team and the onus would be on adding to our options in midfield.

Anyone in mind Red Russian? We can only get what's available and willing to come to us unfortunately. Players who play that role will always be attracted to Real and Barca in my opinion. Unless we can rear them ourselves!! ;0)

Not particularly. I don't watch enough football other than United games to have a valuable opinion. I'm not saying he has to be a gold-plated superstar. I'm just saying that I'd rather have an all-round footballer with clever movement than a finisher. E.g. given the choice, I'd rather have a second Welbeck than a second Hernandez.
I wouldn't mind an out-of-contract Van Perise, if FFP actually does rebalance our spending power relative to the fossil fuel powered clubs.

RVP would be a great free signing for us but City would make sure that didn't happen sadly.
I did like the look of some of Bilbao's players last night and in the first leg but my worry is that the amount of effort they put in, they're going to be inconsistent and like Anderson, probably end up pulling muscles left right and centre in the PL.
I don't have any suggestions really but in my ideal world, I'd like to see Park, Owen, Berbatov and Evra gone this summer and some decent midfield options brought in.
I do like the look of Tiote at Newcastle and think he could do a job for us although Pogba is pretty similar in my opinion so it depends on his progression and if he stays with us.
But I agree, we need some creativity in the middle, someone who is flexible also play up front if needed. Ronaldo???

personally would love huntelaar at UTD, been a big fan of his.
As for not needing strikers, I think people are wrong on that point. We create chances all the time which dont get buried
Welbeck needs time, chicha needs to be onside, and wayne needs his annual 'run' of games.
We lack consistency in front of goal.
