3 central defenders

seems to be gaining popularity throughout Europe. With our wide defenders getting caught up field this year would this help us to concede less? My team for this formation:

-----------------Cech

-------Cahill-----Luis----Terry

Ivanovich-------------------Bertrand

---------Ramires---Lampard

Torres---------Drogba---------Mata

A good mix of youth and experience is a formula for sucess. Thats where avb went wrong evolution not revolution. I would like to have included sturridge but not until he learns how to be a team player. And I know everyone seems to be berating Lampard but he still has a great deal to offer IMO Legend!

i would swap Luis and Terry around personally.

Is both Ramires and Lampard attacking players, i thought they was, also you see no place for Essein? id have him instead of Ramires, need a lot of discipline playing this formation as you will be exposed through the middle quite easily.

Move Torres in the middle and have Sturridge in place where Torres was, that's how i would have it set up anyway.

The two midfielders need to be able to keep possesion and be very comfortable on the ball as well as discipplined in their role yet have good stamina, while the full-backs need to be quick. The front three also need to be quick. So it would arguably work better ilke this:

Cech
Bos-Ivan-Terry-Cahill-Bertrand
---------Mikel-----Luiz-------------
------Sturridge--Torres--Mata---

As I said in my opener I would like to include Sturridge but do you all think that he plays for the team or himself. If he was as good as he thinks he is I could forgive his selfishness. But he's no Messi more a Defoe

billy,

to be fair we have a similar situation to Sterling in our reserves, but you would rather he was in the team than out as he is unpredictable and has quality.

Stop being so selfish with the ball and pass to team mates is easy to teach, but the skill they already have is not, that's natural talent.

This formation imo wouldnt work.

Firstly neither ivan or bertrand are wingbacks and thats what you need in those positions, we won't have anough debt in midfield as either ivan or bertrand or mata will have to drop back which isnt ideal.

The reason a formation like this works in europe is simply becasue most teams are brilliant at keeping the ball and attacking at speed which we cannot do.

I do like the idea of combining both youth and experience but just nt playing that system.

A team like this would have been good IMO. Won't happen but these type of players would suit it

Cech
Ivanovic Terry Luiz
Isla Ramires Sahin Zhirkov
Sturridge Torres Mata

It's been going on for the past few years. Barcelona are the ones that have seemed to bring it back in.
