So the transfer window officially opens and pre season begins. I see we have been linked to a number of players. We all know a GK is a must and i do think Given will be best value for money. Ok he's 35 but hes got at least 3 years left and is proven quality at a decent price of 5 mill. Moving on to Nzogbia, i do think he is a class act but in all honesty i dont think we are going to get him. I see other higher clubs being in for him and offering higher wages, and in my eyes Lerner is cutting back this summer after O Neill's excessive wage spending in previous years. Other than that a centre half is a must, i think Robert Huth would be a classy addition to the team. Big Eck has a big job on his hands if Downing does move on. We shall see

I'm sick of players thinking they are too good for the club. Sell Downing, he is replaceable. Good season but no Messi is he?
Yes, goalkeeper is the number one priority. I'd rather Foster than Given to be honest but would take either. McLeish must hold onto Cuellar (I see that as more important than holding onto Downing). Cuellar was our best defender by a mile last season when he was fit and ready. This is the year of Barry Manilow aka Albrighton. He needs to really step up now he has two seasons in the PL under his belt. He has shown us what he is about, just needs to do that week in week out. Big ask for someone so young, but all good players are consistent. So we need another striker and a holding midfielder. I know just the bloke, his name is Nigel Reo-Coker. Ready made. Striker-wise, I'd like to see anyone who is not a dinosaur and who has a respectable record ina good leaugue. Gabby also needs to step up this season. No more playing him on the wings. He is not a winger (he is barely a striker) so it makes no sense. I agree with you DLO1984 Big Eck has a massive job this season. He not at a small club anymore. We have big expectations and if he doesnt deliver, he could be the first managerial casuality.

Yep, the great transfer fight has arrived!
Given would be good provided he's retained his fitness while warming the bench. Friedel was a great shot stopper but Given as was was a better all round goalie.
Wouldn't be surprised to see a foreign signing arrive. Canales or Diego would be great but not too likely, McLeish was looking a a Belgian winger, and there's probably somebody we've never thought of.
Think we've got a reasonable chance of getting Nzogbia, and yes getting Reo back would be a good thing. Would be happier if we strengthen the back row as well.
Re our current players, Albrighton's still learning but he's got some special talent and I think he'll get there. Think Clarke will come good as well. Gabby's a bit of a problem; he's capable of playing with frightening speed and it's not daft playing him on the wing, but think Gabby sees himself as a centre forward, hence his bulking up which could impact on his speed. MON played him on the wing and I think GH saw that as his strongest position, but Gabby doesn't.

N'Zogbia would think he should have a Top 6 comming for him but i think Villa is a good move for him, but he is the kind of player who will want a move as soon as he starts to impress.
I think Wigan will accept £10M maybe £9M for him but the player will want about £50-60K a week, good player when he has a good game, easily as good as Young, problem is sometimes he dont show up.
Then again i think Villa are a big enough club to make him happy to join, but you just dont know with him

If you want a good goalie I think you should go for Dusan Pernis. We have had him for a season and a half. Slovakian internationalist. We unfortunately have to sell our players at the moment. He'll end up at a Premiership club at some point soon I'd imagine.

I know the feeling
Its queit at Blues aswell, at least we not long signed Rooney
I guess its one of those years, last year not much was getting done untill the end of July.
Maybe not many clubs are looking to do as much business like last season, and/or maybe they are all waiting for the usual last week panic stations
