Liverpool overcame Stoke City at Anfield on Sunday evening in the FA Cup sixth round to book a return to Wembley for the semi-final.

It was an awful match early on, but the match came to life with two quickfire goals halfway through the opening period. Firstly Liverpool scored as Luis Suarez burst forward before exchanging passes with Maxi Rodriguez and placing it into the bottom right corner.

But three minutes later, Stoke were level. A corner kick which should not have been was swung in by Matthew Etherington and Peter Crouch headed it in.

Liverpool were doing most of the attacking but had to wait until the 57th minute to take the lead once again. Stewart Downing cut inside with the ball and it hit Steven Gerrard's heel before Downing retook control and took it forward before blasting it past Thomas Sorensen.

Stoke did not provide much threat to the Liverpool goal and the Reds comfortably saw out the rest of the game to book a return to Wembley Stadium. Details of the draw will be announced shortly.

UPDATE: Liverpool will face the winners of the Everton v Sunderland tie which will be replayed at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday 27 March.
