Transition

There have been many fans including myself calling for the heads of certain players. One of the main defences of the players and the current squad have been that we are in transition.

I have been looking at the changes in Liverpool teams over the last few seasons and the change in the starting eleven in terms of starting appearances is huge!

This season only Reina, Skrtel, Agger and Kuyt remain from the starting eleven from four years ago based on starting appearances. Obviously Gerrard and Carragher are still with us but when you look at starting eleven appearances they have not been as present as other players.

In fact the other players that make up the starting eleven only joined the club last January or this summer!

Liverpool's current most consistent starting eleven this year is:

-------------------------Reina
Johnson--Skrtel---------------Agger--Enrique

Kuyt------Henderson--------Adam---Downing

--------------Carroll------------Suarez

I think the argument that this team needs time to blend and bed themselves is completely fair. There has been a massive change in personnel over the last few seasons and the new ones really do need time to settle.

Next season I imagine the players who have been scorned this year will turn up with the goods. If you wanted to be picky you might even say Spearing should take Kuyt's place and move Henderson out wide as that is how he has been played this year.

So there we go. This is a squad in transition.

To be fair though Dalglish could have made it less so by starting Maxi but he chose to back his own players. Lucas' injury could not be forseen either so that's another who could have made this easier along with Gerrard. But as these things have not happened and some are out of Kenny's control you have to say fair play to the team for winning the Carling Cup and reaching the Semi's of the FA Cup.

I think consistency in the league will be found next year when the team are more familiar with each other.

Is this a fair assessment?

apart from the finishing, we have played good football in most games, just been unfortunate.

If we can sort out the end product in games and get a decent striker in and a proper winger for the right, we have a good chance of top 4 next season.

"What's been wrong with this season? Absolutely nothing."

Tactics have been wrong. Especially against the bottom half teams

TheWhiteWall, thank you, once again for your opinion, much appreciated, whatever it was. Now, where was I? Oh yes, changing the subject matter completely to that of football, and LFC in particular, while I agree that changes will be made, I hope they are kept to a minimum. Let's just make one buy, say, Hazard, and that will do for me. Alternatively, Kenny and Damien might do better than look within the UK for talent, and there's lots of it about, and it could be cheaper than Eden, who would cost both arms and legs.but please Kenny, keep it to a minimum. No they are not. How can having such a huge amount of shots and corners be deemed as a wrong tactic?

We have dominated all bar about 5 games this season. How is that a bad tactic?

We play better football than we have for years. How is that a bad tactic?

We have won a cup and are in the semi of another. How is that a bad tactic?

(Having huge amount of shots from outside the box does not constitute as a chance created. Especially when the shot is made because there is no other option)

We have dominated all bar about 5 games this season. How is that a bad tactic? (I'll give you that Our passing has improved drastically but in terms of creating clear cut chances, we are still lacking quality in the final third. This is most noteable against the smaller teams)

We play better football than we have for years. How is that a bad tactic? (See above)

We have won a cup and are in the semi of another. How is that a bad tactic? (Celebrated the cup like everyone else but we do seem to be targetting the cups more this season)

Overall, dont get me wrong, we have improved but there is still a lot of work needed. A lot more than some think.

I don't see it that way really. I think the squad that KD took on was the orst one that I have seen in my lifetime really.

Everyone talks about how much we have spent but the clubs above us had far stronger squad and half of those spent more than us in the summer.

I don't really see what KD could have done better really.

Its shameful when the some LFC fans criticise Kenny with the "he spent 100mil this summer", yet the same fans will defend Rafa and his net spend.

Guess you have that bad bunch at every club.

For me, how much we spend is not in the slightest bit important; 5 million or 150 million spend on players doesn't matter diddly.
What is important is the players that the money is spent on.
To be honest, I don't watch a match and think how much the players cost. I am more concerned if they are playing well or not, if they are quality or not, if they are giving their best every game they play for the team and the fans or not.
