Is Neil lennon still a hate figure?

Just had a glance at the NIreland board. Now this board has tumbleweeds blowing across it such is the lack of articles actually posted on it recently!!

But over the past two days , two seperate articles that in my opinion anyway are blatantly anti- Neil Lennon have been posted.

They go beyond sticking the boot in because Celtic lost to Kilmarnock but have fairly nasty overtones that as far as i am concerned are not actually Football related.

Its a kind of a joy at seeing Lennon fail for reasons other than Football. No need for me to elaborate. These reasons are well documented.

Kind of pathetic . A decade has passed since Lennon was forced to walk away from the NIreland side and still some people in the NIreland support seem to harbour a deep dislike of the man!!!

Lets see if any of them are big enough to post articles of congratulations when Celtic lift the SPL trophy this season!!!

I would welcome contributions from decent NIreland fans who are able to see the bigger picture and actually be pleased that a man from their side of the country is actually doing well in his first full season as a manager over in Scotland !

And this type of attitude does nothing but harm for the future of NIreland football. How many more promising Footballers will opt for the Republic side in the future because they feel they are not actually wanted due to their background among "some" of the NIreland support.

Some people seriously need to grow up and move on!!

Lennon will always be hated by some fans especially NI fans, which is sad, but Lennon doesn't hide the fact he can't stand them.

Lennon has been brought up in that culture them and us, also he was hated as a player and is hated as a manager, he is a tough person who never shows his feelings

I agree Jinky he made the big "mistake" of standing up to the people who hurled abused at him while he played for their team
And he also took advantage of a little thing called Freedom of Speech to express his political views which people from his background are not "suppossed" to do!!!

Come On

I have congratulated Lennon and Celtic for the football this season.Glad he was at Windsor too recently.
As Jinky states,Lennon does not like bluenoses and shows it,so tension will arise.
Mango brings up religion and national identity and to a lesser degree you point score politically.
As you both say,"Nothing will ever change" and "some people need to grow up and move on".Always the other side that has the problem,eh?Funny reasoning and simply irrational.
Bigotry and nastiness emanate from both sides, but bigots do not see this truth.

Welcome to our world Jinky mate............you could not have made this up if you tried to summarize the nature of sectarian bigotry in a couple of posts.
Aye,it's all Rangers fault and them bad men who follow NI..........THEY STARTED IT!

He is still a hate figure, the world's not perfect. In my perfect world people would do well, and be respected for that, if they worked hard, were competent, and showed respect.I'm self employed, work hard, give and expect respect. So hands up everybody,, who among you is a self made member of the dreaded non unionised private sector ?. Hint,, we don't chat on the internet at work,, we actually,,, wait for it,, WORK !

I am not an Old Firm fan on either side, however I feel Neil Lennon deserves credit for his achievements at Celtic this season and also for the way he has handled the media regarding the various assaults/threats against him.

However, some years ago Neil did something stupid involving a Rangers scarf and he will never be forgiven for it. The reaction would have been the same if say, Kyle Lafferty had done something similar with a Celtic scarf. I mean the Celtic supporters still have it in for Gazza over his flute band mime years ago! In the circumstances, the
reaction of certain people to Neil Lennon is entirely understandable, so lets not play all innocent. Time to get on with the footy.

I understand Gazza did receive quite a few death threats. He just didnt take them seriously or was perhaps too drunk to understand them. He probably thought that it was all a bit of a laugh.
