With the news in the last few days news that Elliot Whitehead has committed to the Bulls until 2016 and gareth Ellis will join Hull FC next season for 3 years - who has got the better deal?
I'm biased.... but I think Whitehead will be a international in a few years time and is a local boy. Ellis has been there and done it (at the very top level too).
I'll plump to have Whiteheads potential over Ellis experience, especially if the Bulls tie down John Bateman to a long deal - he is going to be special!
The future England back row will all be Bulls in a few years!
Whitehead vs Ellis

In the old 606 days an article like this wouldn't of lasted 10sec. before a Rhino would jump in and declare another word for the backend of your name that starts with an (s)....BULL S - - T....
I obviously haven't seen the likes of Whitehead as much as you have over the last couple of years, the same as you wouldn't of seen as much of Ellis as I.
Ellis arrived in OZ a very good player, and leaves OZ as one of best English players to grace our shores....up there with Reilly, Hanley & Offiah, Morley.....so this Whitehead must be something special to be included amongst these chaps......
Time will tell but I'll have my 2 bob on Ellis being proven the better of the two and say Hull F.C have done extremely well in gaining Ellis's signature for 3 years....

In the old days Souths indeed but no longer are we in the old days – thank god!
You are right of course Ellis is streets ahead at present but Whitehead is young, already in the England 2nd string and playing well – he will be up there in a few years make no mistake about it, he will terrorise the Aussie flanks in years to come
I would still take 21 year old Whitehead for 5 years on decent money over Ellis, 30 years old for 3 years on HUGE money if rumours are to be believed but I am biased!

Souths – I do personally think that the franchise system and limit on overseas players is starting to pay here in the UK, the amount of quality juniors coming through now compared to 10 years ago is remarkable
Watch out for John Bateman – he is very special and still only 18

I feel the league, both NRL & S/League should encourage clubs with salary cap compensation for progressing their own local talent......I hate seeing any club that looks after a kid for 2-4 years and another club steps in with a good offer to good to refuse and his club is helpless because of the cap.
I think if it's your local junior and another club comes in with an offer of 100,000 pound for him, his club should be able to match that offer but only half get's registered onto the cap....
I feel then the clubs will look after their own more....

something like that is in place Souths - once a player has reached testimonial (10 years at club) only half of his salary counts to the cap upto a limit
I think!!

Yes Bull......that's at the top end and after ten years.....what about the kids of today that need in injection of funds......I just feel we are losing to many kids because the junior clubs are struggling and if a scheme can be found where some money can be found from the big end of town for these junior clubs that rely on parents and chook raffles then all the better.......we have got single mums trying to put boots, socks & shorts plus insurance & registration on 2 - 3 boys and I think it's a disgrace when the seniors don't help out what so ever except pluck the talented ones out....My team South's do look after the above but where I live in the Tigers district they do Jack.....
