Lots of kidnappings go on in Tunisia, I would be careful, especially as a tourist.

I went prior to all the who-har and it was great.
They'll be desperate for tourism to pick-up so should be ok, although you'll probably run into even more begging / hard selling from market stall owners while your there...

You will be fine as long as you don't walk around with loads of valuables on show. It is not a hostile place compared to most North African countries right now. Just don't stray off the main tourist routes and you will have a great time.
Just watch out for the Tunisian men trying it on with your bird. I had a few problems with that

OP
Been to Tunisia 3 times about 4 years ago. Twice to Hammamet and once to Port El Kantoui. Nearly all hotels are fully inclusive because alcohol is expensive outside. The hotel staff are absolutely wonderful and will do anything to make your holiday enjoyable. There is a bit of persistance in the souks and markets, but as long as you are polite and say no thank you they will back off. Learn a few words in arabic, and they will be happy. There second language is French and English third. Get out the hotel and visit the nearest town. We went to Sousse
once and Old Hammamet twice. You will have to barter for leather bags, etc. but it is all good fun. What resort are you going to?
