Liverpool somehow lost an incredible game against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Wednesday night.

The Reds dominated the opening stages, winning many corners but could not do anything with them. And QPR eventually settled and started forcing Liverpool back as they threatened with attacks of their own.

But it took until the second half for the goals to arrive. The first came on 54 minutes when Sebastian Coates volleyed an incredible scissor kick in following a blocked effort from Stewart Downing after a corner kick.

On 72 minutes, Dirk Kuyt appeared to have sealed the points with a close-range finish after Downing had a shot saved.

But just five minutes later, the game changed. Adel Taarabt swung in a corner kick and Shaun Derry rose to head it in. And six minutes later, Rangers were level. Taye Taiwo hit in a cross from the left and former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse headed it in.

With the game in the balance, it was QPR who incredibly went on to win it. Luke Young headed a ball forward and Jose Enrique failed to deal with it, and substitute Jamie Mackie found himself through on goal. He coolly slotted it past Pepe Reina into the far corner to seal the three points and lift QPR out of the relegation zone.

Liverpool remain in seventh position, five points behind Newcastle United.

Jeeeeez....we just don't seem to have the mentality to kill teams off. How many times do we start brilliantly and then suddenly get a 'fear of losing' attitude.

Sorry, but I never thought I would hear myself saying this...but as much as he has been a legend for us I think it's time for Carragher to step back and take a back seat.

Not so much gutted that we lost, but the way we lost from two goals up and it should have been three or four!

I think that lad Mackie is worth a look at the end of the season, looks a very good player to me.

You'd think after Henderson, Adam, Carroll and Downing, you lot would have learnt your lesson.

He does seem to play well when given the chance though.
