FOOTBALL cop Kevin Smith last night told officials and fans that if there's an Old Firm title decider, they can police it themselves.
The Strathclyde Assistant Chief Constable is haunted by memories of the winner-take-all "Game of Shame" between the Glasgow giants in 1999.
And if football bosses let Rangers and Celtic face off for the title again, he doesn't want to think about what might follow.
Smith, Scotland's leading police expert on football issues, admits that a Celtic-Rangers decider would be "a great sporting spectacle".
But he still cannot face a repeat of 1999.
He said: "If any football person wants that to happen, I will swap places with them.
"I'll take on the football role and they can come and police it."

Oh, the pedants!
3 seasons ago Strathclyde Police were so against ANY title decider involving the OF they said they would not police it.
Now? Not a peep.
Its my view thats entirely because Celtic fans arent going to cause any bother; celtic win the league, fine, they dont...fine ,they win it next week.
All the extra pressure is on Rangers and Rangers fans.....seems to be fine if thats the case somehow.
Going by he police logic....if they police the game and allow it to go ahead, its their responsibility for anything above an average OF game.

The difference is that in the scale of things, this isn't a title-deciding game.
Celtic already have the title wrapped up after our 10 point deduction and drop into administration, unless the bottle-crash to beat all bottle-crashes comes in from Lenny and his boys...
Rangers fans have already resigned the league this season. It's not like there's everything to play for.
Sunday only brings the feint hope of pride and bragging rights.
